Why is it important that Jesus sit at the right hand of God the father? There seem to be a lot of verses that talk about the right hand, why?
Traditionally the place where the second-in-command resides is at the right hand of the king or ruler. This is where the phrase “you’re my right-hand man” came from. But the concept originated in the Bible with the Father telling the Son, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet. “ (Psalm 110:1).
When Jesus told the religious leaders, “You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven” (Matt. 26:64) it sealed His fate. They knew Psalm 110 and accused Him of blasphemy for claiming to be the Son of God. It was a crime punishable by death.
