You said that the office of prophet is no more but the gift of prophecy is still here. Do we know of anyone who has this gift? How does this gift work and how do we know it when we see it? Being these are the end times, I am leery of anyone with a new idea.
The gift of prophecy is one of the 9 spiritual gifts mentioned in 1 Cor. 12. It is far different from the Old Testament Office of Prophet. The last one to hold that office was Jesus, who still has it, but there are many with the gift of prophecy. Like most of the Spiritual Gifts it’s been much abused and maligned, and there are many impostors. It’s wise to be leery and to always seek confirmation from an independent source before acting on any so-called prophecy.
Above all, any prophecy given today has to be consistent with what Scripture has already revealed and can only offer additional detail. If it’s new, it can’t be true.
