The Holy Spirit After The Rapture

Q

Thank you for your very knowledgeable answers to the many questions about the Bible. You are ministering to thousands by your web site and I pray God’s blessings for you.

I have been reading some of the answers concerning the Holy Spirit. It has been my understanding that when the Church is removed from the earth, the Holy Spirit also leaves and will not be available to those who are saved after the Rapture. Because of His removal, lawlessness and sin prevails . Have I been believing wrongly?

A

Yes and no. After the Church leaves, the Holy Spirit will be released from His Church Age Ministry. With our resurrection bodies we’ll no longer have a sin nature with its accompanying desire to sin, so we won’t have need of the Holy Spirit to remind us what Jesus said (John 14:26) and guide us into all truth (John 16:13). All of the ways and workings of our Creator will be clear to us so we won’t have need of supernatural insight to help us understand (1 Cor. 2:12). Also the promise of our inheritance will have been fulfilled so we’ll no longer have need of the Holy Spirit’s guarantee that God will provide it (Ephesians 1:13-14).

At that point the Holy Spirit will be free to resume something like His Old Testament ministry on Earth. He will still be convicting people of their sins and providing supernatural power and ability for their salvation and good works. He just won’t be sealed within believers as a guarantee of their redemption. Eternal Security is a blessing exclusive to the Church.
