Unbelievers And Miracles

Q

I just have a quick question for you. When the subject of miracles is brought up when talking to atheists what is the best way to handle this? Are there any good points to state or any good studies to support miracles? What do you normally say?

A

Unbelievers have a vested interest in denying the Lord’s miracles because to accept them would be to admit His supernatural abilities. Also, the only credible studies on miracles I’ve seen are written by believers and are automatically suspect in an unbeliever’s eyes.

In 1 Cor. 2:14 Paul said “The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. He cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”

Therefore I normally don’t engage unbelievers on topics such as this. I think it’s more productive to leave this type of discussion for after a person is born again.
