Our Pastor spoke of literal meaning and not literal meaning of some of the Bible’s messages. He said a parable is a story to teach us something and not to be taken literally. (Example:The Prodigal Son) On the other hand, he spoke of Jesus walking on the water. He said if Jesus was like us, he couldn’t have actually walked on the water because we can’t. What are your thoughts about this?
What does your Pastor do with the fact that Peter walked on the water, too? (Matt. 14:29). Notice that when Peter became distracted and began to sink, Jesus said, “You of little faith. Why did you doubt?” (Matt. 14:31). Was he saying Peter’s lack of faith is what made him doubt his ability and begin to sink?
I will admit that I don’t have the faith to walk on water, but that doesn’t mean I think it’s impossible. I don’t think we should deny that the Holy Spirit has the power to perform miracles through us just because we lack the faith to fully access His power.
