Q
Today I read that God buried Moses’ body in Moab, but later in scripture we find that Michael fought for the body of Moses. How can this be? What good is a lifeless corpse?
A
The mention of Michael contending with Satan over the body of Moses appears only in Jude 9 as an example of respecting the angelic hierarchy. Satan outranked Michael and therefore Michael was not authorized to rebuke him, but deferred to the Lord who is authorized.
The Bible offers no explanation for this, either in Jude or anywhere else, but apparently having the body was important enough to God that He sent one of His most powerful subordinates to keep Satan from taking it.
