Q
Q. I love your site and I have always had an interest in the Book of Revelation. While reading it one day I came to the realization when the Lord is talking to the churches, it ACTUALLY says the angels of the churches. So my question is, it makes a difference if he’s talking to the angels of the church or the church directly themselves meaning believers. So what significance is it then and why is he speaking to the angels of the churches?
A
A. The Greek word translated angel in Rev. 2-3 simply means messenger. It usually refers to a supernatural figure, but can also describe a human. Most scholars believe the leader of the church is being addressed in each letter. He was responsible for conveying the Lord’s message to the people.
