Why Did God Leave The Door Open?

Q

My question pertains to the ark door left open for 7 days for anyone to enter and thus be saved. According to Genesis 6:13 the whole earth was corrupt and evidence shows it was covered with the offspring of fallen angels and earth women. What if these people tried to get on the ark with corrupted DNA, would they have succeeded? I don’t believe there were any righteous people other than the 8 on the ark. So why was the door left open when God knew none were eligible to enter?

A

God wouldn’t have had Noah make the ark as big as it was for no purpose. It was big enough to accommodate anyone who wanted to enter. And the Bible doesn’t say that Noah and His family were the only ones left who were pure in their genealogy. Therefore we can conclude that anyone who chose to get on board would have been accepted. The open door proves this.

It also proves that all those people who stood there looking at the open door for seven days had hardened their hearts beyond redemption. This is another way in which the time leading up to the 2nd Coming will be like the days of Noah (Matt. 24:37) when most of the world will deny the Lord even in the face of judgment.

And as for corrupted DNA remember, we all have DNA that’s been spiritually corrupted, but God accepts any who walk through the door. Then He makes us all perfect, the way He created us to be.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened (Matt. 7:7-8).
