Will We Ever Know Everything?

Q

Hello and thank you for such a wonderful site. Once we are in Heaven, will we learn the answers to all the questions we have regarding why things happen the way they do on Earth, and why certain events in our life turned out the way they did?

A

According to 1 Cor. 13:12 we currently only see a small portion of what God sees. And we only know a little bit of His perspective. But one day we shall see Him face to face, and will know fully even as we are fully known, which means our understanding of all things will approximate His.

For as long as we live in this world our knowledge will be incomplete, and that’s why our faith is is so important. According to Hebrews 11:1, “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” God places great value in our faith and rewards it in many ways throughout our lifetime.

Thomas said he wouldn’t believe in the Lord’s resurrection until he saw the scars in His hands and side (John 20:24-25). When he saw them he finally believed, but the Lord criticized him for needing proof. “Because you have seen me you have believed,” He said. “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” He was speaking of the Church.

The reason the Church is and will be blessed beyond all other groups of mankind is because we’ve been asked to believe by faith alone.

“God raised us up in Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms, in order that in ages yet to come God might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6-7)
