Worried and Anxious

Q

I understand that we really don’t have an option on this new tax for abortions, I keep feeling that the only way to get beyond it is to quit our jobs and live in shacks somewhere. I am so worried that this new rule we live under is going to drive families apart because some will pay the tax anyway and some will not at any cost. I wont be one that will be paying it. I have felt a lot of anxiety about events in the USA for a little while now and I also feel that I am not the only one. Am I right in feeling that the church is becoming anxious too and that our time is extremely short now?

A

I believe there is a legitimate rustling among believers in anticipation of the rapture. But we should remember that governments in Biblical times were even more intolerant of Christianity than they are today. It shouldn’t surprise us if it becomes more difficult to live our faith, or if we’re forced by law to do things we wouldn’t do voluntarily. But the only times where the Bible condoned civil disobedience were those that made the worship of God illegal. Give to Caesar that which is Caesar’s, and to God that which is God’s (Matt. 22:21) and if it’s possible, as far as it depends upon you, live at peace with everyone. (Romans 12:18) The Lord is coming soon.
