This week in Mexico 11-22-24

Here’s a glimpse of our week of outreaches in Mexico.

Happy weekend GTF fam! We began the concrete pour for our house project at 6 am yesterday and thought we’d be done around lunchtime. But it took the whole day! The concrete truck was a bit short on their measurements and ran out before the whole roof was poured!  We use a small gas-powered mixer for small jobs, so we fired it up as quickly as possible to complete the pour. It was a long, hard day for everyone, but we got it done!  I’m so excited for this sweet family to be able to have bedrooms for their kids!

On to pics from the week!

Grocery Prep

We got the truck delivery of groceries this week and we’ve been packaging them up for families!

Our Escuelita

I realized we never shared pics from our Dia de los Muertos party! So, I have those for you this week. I love how the community celebrates this holiday, remembering their lost loved ones and honoring their past culture while being sensitive to their beliefs. Being so close to the US, the kids also know about kids getting to wear costumes and want to do so as well! It’s so fun to blend cultures and also such a beautiful example of being respectful and honoring to everyone involved. Many of our kids have lost a parent or close loved one, so this is such a beautiful holiday for them to care for each other in their losses as well. ♥

My sister made soft popcorn balls for the kids and brought sprinkles for them to decorate!

Our Project House

A lot of work went into getting the forms ready to support all that concrete! We borrowed wood from three other groups to get all the supports we needed. They’ll be up for a few weeks while the concrete cures before we can remove them. I can’t wait till this sweet family of five can all sleep in the same house together! ♥

Thank you so much for praying with us for those we serve together!
