Israel Project House – Stairs!

While waiting for the roof concrete to cure enough to remove the supports, we proceeded with building the stairs. Because this family has lived in the one-room home below for 10 years, we had to cut a hole in the ceiling to create a staircase. (If you’re new, you can see the beginning of this project here.)

Plastering

Once the roof concrete was cured enough to remove the wooden supports, we could begin plastering the walls. As soon as this is done, we can put windows in and make it more secure for them. In the meantime, the guys board up the hole in the ceiling for the stairs each night before they leave so it’s not fully open to the elements and any creatures that could come in from all the window openings!

This is always the step when it starts to look more like a home!

Rebuilding after the fire

We’ve also been helping families rebuild after losing everything in a fire in February. (You can see more here)

Below you can see the temporary shelter a widowed mom and her two daughters have been staying in

Here’s the work after the last run of materials we were able to get for them

More materials donated!

We were able to get the materials needed to build the wooden forms needed to pour the concrete roof. We’re getting closer to this sweet family being able to sleep under a more secure roof!
