This week in Mexico 9-12-25

Here’s a glimpse of our week of outreaches in Mexico.

Happy Friday, GTF fam! ♥ We’ve had a week full of all our regular outreaches, and a fun surprise project we were able to do!
I’ll share our surprise project first!
New Roof!
It’s a surprise, because we learned about it, and felt called to do it, and had it funded all within a day!
In the middle of the day, I got a call from one of the guys on our construction crew. He told me that a friend of his had just called him about a single mom who needs help with a roof. Everyone knows that anyone at any moment can tell us of a need for themselves or anyone else. And we will pray for the ability to meet it. We don’t have lists that people can sign up for. We go on a prayer-by-answered-prayer basis.
So I say, yes, send me the details and we’ll all pray! And he says, I know you’ll want to do this, I really do. And I laugh (of course, I want to do all of them!).
He says no, no, this is small, you’ll want to do it. “Small” is relative. It can mean so many things to different people. So I again tell him to send me all the info he has, and that we will pray for it.
He tells me ok, but he feels strongly that we’re supposed to do it, and he thinks that the moment I see it, God will confirm that we’re to do it. And that if God provides the materials, he will donate his time that weekend.
He tells me this mom and her two kids had been homeless, but a family with some land gave her a small portion. With the help of some friends, they managed to get an old garage door and some plywood sheets and put those up as walls. They put up a large tarp as a makeshift roof, which was ok, until a big storm came. It wasn’t strong enough to protect against the wind and rain. They got soaked, and the dirt floors became mud. It was miserable not being able to get out of the rain. Friends came afterward and secured the tarp again as best they could, but they knew it wouldn’t hold through another storm.
So friends of friends of friends were praying and calling anyone they knew for a way to help this family, until it reached one of our guys.

Here are the photos he sent me right then:
Building the roof!
And he was right. I looked through these photos, already praying, and knew we were supposed to help. It is small. We always pray for all the needs to be met. And we pray for the ability and confirmation of which ones He wants to meet through us.
And so I texted him back, saying I think God is telling us to do this, and asked him to get an idea of the materials he would need to complete it.
He had gotten the materials list ready the next day, and by the end of the day, the Lord had given us what we needed to do it. And over the weekend, we got it done!
Many projects involve us looking at what materials, building methods, and scope of the project will bless the family and last the longest. But some are like this, where we come alongside a family and jump in to help keep them safe.
Inside after:
I am so grateful we were able to help this family! Thank you so much for all your prayers and support!
Next up, more school supplies!
Back to School Supplies
Many of you will know these two sisters!
When we learned their older sister dropped out of school to help pay the bills, we told her we could help. But she didn’t want to go back to school. Their mom had been sick and unable to work, but she’s better now! But she doesn’t want all the pressure on her mom. ♥ She knows the invitation is always there, the moment she decides. And, we told these two younger sisters that we will make sure they can stay in school.
The store is still getting the uniforms in. And we got more backpacks for those who needed them too!
Grocery Prep
We got the next grocery delivery, and are packing them up for families!
