What Crown Did He Mean?

Published: March 15, 2017 (Originally published: March 21, 2011)
Q

Regarding Rev. 3:11: “Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.” My question is which crown is this referring to? And what can be done to take the crown away?

Royal Family, Follow Up

Published: March 11, 2010 (Originally published: March 10, 2010)
Q

Regarding the Royal Family, when I look at 1 Pet. 2:9 I first have to remind myself that Peter addressed this letter to Jews because in his salutation he addresses it to the pilgrims of the Dispersion/exiles of the Dispersion/aliens scattered/God’s elect, strangers in the world, scattered. When he states in 2:9 that you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God isn’t he talking about the children of Israel and not the Church? Wouldn’t it be the children of Israel that is the Royal Family?

Pray Without Ceasing

Published: February 18, 2021 (Originally published: August 13, 2006)
Q

Thank you so much for this website. I really appreciate the opportunity to ask Bible-based questions!

My question is about the manner I assume for prayer. Sometimes I have a quiet time put aside for prayer. Other times, I pray while I am doing other “light” things, such as showering or housework. Occasionally I wonder if this is being disrespectful to God or I am just being old-fashioned? Do you have any thoughts or opinions on this?

Why Did Paul Circumcise Timothy?

Published: February 19, 2021 (Originally published: February 2, 2009)
Q

I have a question about when Paul circumcises Timothy in Acts 16:3 because of the Jews. Just before that there was a big deal made about not requiring the Gentile believers to follow the law and they even held a committee on it. Several leaders in the faith sent the decision out to Antioch and it was decided that the Gentiles were not required to be circumcised. Paul was a part of this group. Right after that Paul circumcises Timothy whose father was greek. Why on earth would he do such an about face?

The “Not Good” Day Of Creation

Published: February 19, 2021 (Originally published: February 3, 2009)
Q

I’ve been surfing your site, and have been reading questions and answers concerning creation, gap theory, the garden. When God created the atmosphere on the 2nd day, he does not state anywhere “that it was good”. The other 5 creation days are declared good. Would you share your views on this?

Besetting Sin Or Practicing Sin?

Published: February 22, 2021 (Originally published: February 1, 2009)
Q

If one has a bad habit (tobacco) and has the habit from before they are saved to while they are saved, it is a besetting sin or is it practicing Sin? Regardless, I’m OSAS since day one and more secure with the help of your answers to questions in the past. I love God’s Word and love telling people about the Lord when I get the chance and look forward to His return, my conscience is sharp when I know I’ve hurt someone or done wrong. It sometimes feels as if I’m not changing much though. How can I tell that God is still making me holy (sanctified)?

Q

I have often wondered about eunuchs in the Bible, e.g the Ethiopian eunuch, and the eunuchs our Lord refers to in Matthew 19:12. Why are they eunuchs, and for what purpose(s)?

Is It OK That I Keep Praying For My Salvation?

Published: February 23, 2021 (Originally published: October 16, 2015)
Q

I feel like the Lord is just on the horizon and sometimes as I am driving I think about the people in the other cars and wonder, “Do they know what’s coming?” Our world is quickly heading towards the completion of all God’s promises. I do feel often that I am not worthy. My sins are continuous daily and often I pray to the Lord that he knows I do NOT doubt him or his gift of salvation only myself. Is it OK to continue to pray about my own salvation even though I have prayed it 1 million times?

A Beginner’s Bible Study

Published: February 23, 2021 (Originally published: April 29, 2016)
Q

I was so thrilled that my roommate came to church with me on Easter Sunday. She isn’t walking with the Lord, although she calls herself a Christian. Afterward she expressed to me that something is missing in her life and that she feels broken.

She had some bad church experiences and Bible study experiences in the past. Even so, I thought it might be a neat idea to do a Bible study with her. It might be a good bonding thing for us, and she would feel more comfortable studying the Word with just me, and I know we would both learn. Do you know of a good study for a baby believer we could do together?
