Forgiveness, Again

Published: February 20, 2016
Q

I see in your discussion of forgiveness that a person does not have to repent for us to forgive them. But in the case of us and God, we must repent to receive forgiveness. Why is this not the same? How can the person receive forgiveness from another if they don’t think they have done anything wrong or allow pride to keep them from asking for it. I have a couple of people in my life that continually hurt me in horrible ways, and I have as little contact with them as possible, but I cannot eliminate them completely. They are not sorry, they do not repent, how can I possibly forgive them?

Forgiveness And Restoration

Published: February 20, 2016
Q

My question is about forgiveness. What does it really mean to forgive someone? I think there are two parts to it: refusing to seek revenge for the sin committed against you, and restoring the offender to the relationship that he/she previously had with you. It is the second part that I am having a problem with. I have no problem “forgiving”, by walking away and refusing to seek revenge, but do I have to restore people (who through their hurtful actions have proven to be disloyal and untrustworthy) to previous positions of trust?

The Temptation Of Jesus

Q

After Jesus was anointed and filled by the Holy Spirit he was led into the wilderness, fasted 40 days and was tempted by Satan. If you have a study on why this had to happen in this way could you direct me to it please. And was Jesus tempted before he was filled by the Holy Spirit for his ministry on earth?

Am I Deluding Myself?

Published: February 18, 2016
Q

I have had periods when I have been close to God and periods when I lived in adultery and alcoholic fogs. I have asked for forgiveness, but have never “felt” forgiven and I daily live with the regret and guilt of the things I did to totally wreck my career and my first marriage. I know I am paying the natural price now (not God’s punishment) for my own acts. I think I have been forgiven, but I lack the “Blessed Assurance” I have prayed for.

I think that God, knowing my pride, wants to keep me doubting so I will stay in constant contact with Him. It’s either that or I am not really saved and have been deluding myself. Would God let that happen?

Did The Lord Violate His Own Commandment?

Published: February 18, 2016
Q

Having just watched a television movie about Moses, I wondered why God told Moses and his people “Thou shall not kill” as part of the 10 commandments, yet a short time later, in Joshua, God commands his people to kill every one, women and children included?

The Image Of God

Published: February 18, 2016
Q

I just found your website and I am curious to know why do people put a face on the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the express image of God, when the Father said we are not to do this. Drawings are done with the hand from the mind of a person to represent the physical features of the Lord Jesus. These features are usually long brown hair, a long straight, narrow nose, mustachioed, sometimes bearded, pale skin and light colored eyes.

The scriptures tells us that with all of our getting, we are to get an understanding and I would like to understand how and why this commandment is still ignored, especially with knowledge increasing at such a rapid rate in this final hour before the Lord Jesus comes back?

Explaining The Transfiguration

Q

My nephew was raised in a Catholic Church. He has a very high IQ. He has turned agnostic, borderline atheist. He uses one verse to stand by his non belief. Matthew 16:28 says: “Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.” Obviously he has not come, and there is no one alive from that time. How do I explain this? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Who Is The Bride? Follow Up

Q

If there’s no difference between believers as far as being the Bride is concerned, what heavenly benefit is there for those who love the Lord so much that they want to please Him and be “after His own heart”…as He describes King David….versus someone who just stays a baby Christian and never comes to know Him in a very personal way?

Responding To An Unbeliever

Published: February 18, 2016
Q

I was discussing the meaning of Matthew 15:24 with a co-worker today and he said that my Bible (the New King James Version) cannot possibly be God’s Word because God didn’t write the Bible in English, that the Hebrew vocabulary was so limited back in the day that the words didn’t exist to say what the passage says, that it’s impossible to accurately translate what may have been said into the proper context, and that whatever oral stories may have been handed down, that they were embellished along the way.

We then went onto the topic of Daniel 9:24-27. When I told him that the first 483 years were fulfilled to the day, he started on me about how they didn’t even have a Jewish calendar back when Daniel made the prophecy. They didn’t know what a year was.

He also said that dinosaurs and the Genesis account of creation are mutually exclusive, which is why we cannot take the Bible literally because science has already proven that dinosaurs existed. He also wanted to know how, if the theory of evolution is to be excluded, Noah could put billions of species of animals etc. on an ark that was only the size of a football field? Because, he says, we have billions of different kinds of species of living things and they would have all had to fit on that ark.

Will you please help me with these questions?
