Will The Great Tribulation Be Shortened?

Published: March 3, 2010 (Originally published: March 2, 2010)
Q

I have some questions in regard to how you think The Lord’s shortening of the Tribulation period, as stated in the Bible, will play out? I have never read anything in the Bible directly addressing how this will occur. I don’t believe I have even read a commentary on this question either. Only that The Lord is a compassionate God and for the sake of mankind this period of time will be shortened.

Will each of the judgments be shortened? Will a specific judgment by shortened? Will all the 70 weeks be fulfilled, only the judgments shortened, but spread out so that the Earth will still fulfill the prophesy of the entire 70 weeks? I realize your answer might be speculation, however, your thoughts on this question would be appreciated.

Why Isn’t Matt. 24:36-42 About The Rapture?

Published: October 3, 2024 (Originally published: September 4, 2013)
Q

I thank the Lord for your ministry, keep up the good work in Him. I have always read the Olivet Discourse understanding it according to the three questions asked by the disciples to Jesus, taking it not chronologically but like as question followed by its answer. I believe all 3 questions and relative answers focus on Israel. The Church is not “really” in view there. However, when we come to Mathew 24:36-42, I believe we are talking about the rapture of the Church as a sign to Israel and if not to Israel as a whole, to the 144,000 Jews involved in evangelizing people during the Tribulation. Where am I going wrong?

Israel, the Fig Tree, And The Olivet Discourse

Published: March 29, 2023 (Originally published: March 6, 2010)
Q

I have been studying up on the fig tree parable. in Luke 21 and Matthew 24. Both passages mention the fig tree. Does the fig tree represent Israel or not? I’ve heard both ways and it sure makes more sense for the fig tree to represent Israel. Remember when Jesus put a curse on the fig tree that bore no fruit and the scripture that is mentioned in Jeremiah 24 about Israel as a fig tree? I’m so confused because isn’t Israel the tell-tale sign that we are the last generation? The generation that witnesses the budding of the fig tree will witness everything last thing? Can you explain this? Thank you!

Explaining The Sheep And Goat Judgment

Published: December 21, 2013 (Originally published: December 20, 2013)
Q

Can you please explain again how Messiah was meaning His Jewish brethren when talking about “if you did it to the least of these my brothers, you were doing it to me”, and how it means we should be helping the Jews today, whether monetarily or otherwise. Someone I’m talking to thinks it only means fellow believers, and I don’t think that’s entirely correct. Am I wrong in my thinking?

Eating And Drinking With Drunkards?

Published: October 11, 2024 (Originally published: September 12, 2013)
Q

I have learned from reading Gracethrufaith that Matt. 24 is about the surviving Jews at the end of the tribulation. However I am wondering about your opinion concerning Matt. 24:49. These people were judged by what they had done. My wife and I are invited to an Octoberfest party and it does give me pause to know we will be eating and drinking with drunkards. I feel if we don’t go it will send a message that we are too good to spend time with old friends. I know this has nothing to do with my salvation however I want to do what is pleasing to the Lord. Any thoughts how God views these things is greatly appreciated.

Differences Between Matt 24, Mark 13, And Luke 21

Published: January 21, 2015 (Originally published: April 3, 2008)
Q

I have a question about the generation not passing away until all things are fulfilled.

I assume this idea is coming from Luke 21:32. Does this idea appear anywhere else in scripture? Luke 21 is often compared with matt 24 and mark 13, but I believe there are some very important differences. Matt and Mark are private discussions with his disciples on the mount of olives. Luke 21 Jesus is teaching in the temple to the people (not just the disciples). It starts off very similar in verses 7-11 but in verse 12 it says “But before all these” Luke begins a discussion that describes the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, the dispersion of the Jews into all nations and later what appears to be a description of the rapture. The abomination of desolation is absent from Luke’s account, but present in Matt 24 and Mark 13.

What time period is verse 32 referring to: The rapture generation or the generation that witnessed the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple?

Between First Fruits and Pentecost

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

For some time now, I’ve been puzzled about the time between the resurrection and the ascension—wondering why the Lord lingered during those 40 days.  It certainly wasn’t to complete His mission.  By all accounts, He had already accomplished everything He came to do.

The Day And Hour Of The Rapture

Published: March 6, 2016 (Originally published: March 8, 2016)
Q

I have been looking through a lot of rapture web sites lately and some of the stuff I read is pretty “out” there. Date predictions abound but all that has done for me is cause disappointment and discouragement since they are always wrong. My question for you is do you think it’s possible to know the date or predict it with any accuracy? Considering Jesus’ statement that we cannot know the day or the hour, do you think Jesus was speaking about the rapture or His second coming? Forgive me if I’m being a pest. I’ll bet you have had this question before.

More On The Day And Hour

Published: November 29, 2009 (Originally published: November 28, 2009)
Q

Basically, I know the scriptures say no one “knows the day or hour” of Jesus’ second coming, to conquer the armies of the world and set up his kingdom. I have always thought that this only applies to those of us alive before Daniel’s 70th week starts. TODAY we don’t know, but those who are alive during Daniel’s 70th week, and understand the scriptures, only have to count the 2520 days to it’s end, and during the day immediately after it, they will see Jesus and his armies coming in the clouds with great glory.

The verse I would like you to comment on, which is one verse that seems to help support this view is Rev.19:19. “And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, GATHERED TOGETHER TO MAKE WAR AGAINST HIM that sat on the horse, and against his army.” Since the beast and the others, are there at the right time (i.e. the correct day) to fight against Jesus, they must or will have some kind of idea when Jesus will show up.
