A Great Revival?

Published: December 12, 2010 (Originally published: December 11, 2010)
Q

I hear of many churches, including my church, speaking of a last days revival. While I want to be part of any soul saving the Lord has in store for my community, I don’t see this last days revival in scriptures.I actually see the opposite in that there will be a falling away such as in 2 Thessalonians 2:3. Please comment.

OSAS and Rev. 2-3

Published: December 4, 2010 (Originally published: December 3, 2010)
Q

I had a question about your article on once saved always saved. You make some great points, but I’m confused because of the letters Jesus had John write to the 7 churches in Revelation. Over and over he tells them to repent or suffer some kind of punishment. Yet, they were saved…they were part of His church. How can this be?

Why Were They Upset?

Published: June 20, 2014 (Originally published: December 3, 2010)
Q

I’ve always been a bit baffled by the passage in Luke 4:14-30 where Jesus preaches in a synagogue at Nazareth. At first it appears the people are impressed and welcome him. But he states a couple of obscure references to Old Testament stories and the next minute the people are in a rage and try to throw him off a cliff! Can you explain some of the subtler sides of this story? Why were the people so incensed at some OT stories, and why did Jesus feel the need to quote from some proverb about “physician heal thyself”?

Governing Earth In The Millennium

Published: December 5, 2010 (Originally published: December 4, 2010)
Q

In the Kingdom, who will sit on the throne in earthly Jerusalem? Will it be Jesus or David? As I understand it, God will be present in Jerusalem, but also in the New Jerusalem where the Church will live, as will Jesus. Who will be charged with day-to-day governance of the natural humans in Israel — who will be the “cops”?

And, in the rest of the world — the believing Gentile survivors — who will run things? Does the Bible address this, or are these more of the things we are not told about and will simply have to wait to see what develops?

Was Jesus Advocating Celibacy?

Published: December 6, 2010 (Originally published: December 5, 2010)
Q

What is Jesus trying to teach us from Matthew 19:11-12?

Jesus replied, “Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriage because of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”

What Should We Do Now?

Published: December 7, 2010 (Originally published: December 6, 2010)
Q

Just recently we discovered that a long-time member of our para-church ministry has begun a romantic relationship with another member (both are single). They will be getting married soon but have already moved into the same house and are living together. We found this out at our annual convention when we discovered they were sharing a hotel room. Several members of the ministry (including us) were disturbed and we offered to provide another room but it was not accepted. Later we suggested they either get married now or live separately until the wedding. They said they’re not doing anything wrong and ignored our suggestion. What should we do?

Is Satan Bound?

Published: December 7, 2010 (Originally published: December 6, 2010)
Q

My pastor recently stated that Satan is bound up right now. I thought that this was going to happen during the millennium, he would be released for a short time and then put away forever. My understanding has been that Satan is able to roam the earth and still has access to heaven, too (Job 1: 6&7). Can you help me or direct me to any scriptures that might clear this up for me?

Here during The Tribulation?

Since the rapture is number (completion of church) dependent and not date dependent could it happen that we might find ourselves into the tribulation because the number has not been yet fulfilled?

OSAS And 1 Cor. 15:2

Q

I cling to every “Once Saved Always Saved” email you send, but sometimes the thought of having lost my salvation is crippling. What do you say to the meaning of 1 Corinthians 15:2: “By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.”
