How Can I Put This Behind Me?

Published: June 13, 2010 (Originally published: June 12, 2010)
Q

Before I was saved, I worked in an office with a number of Christians who boasted daily about being saved and knowing where they were going (Rapture). But these same persons treated non-Christians, mainly myself, so badly that I vowed that I would never become a Christian. Even so, I was not a bad person. I was respectful, performed my duties and even went beyond my work scope. The woman who was behind all this has since left us and I have started to attend church but I do not think that I can forgive her. I always thought that one should know a Christian by their deeds. This situation has left me very scarred and I tend to judge people which I do not like to do. Could you advise me of the best way to put this behind me?

Lot’s Sons-In-Law

Published: June 13, 2010 (Originally published: June 12, 2010)
Q

I always wanted to know about Lot’s son’s in laws . They did not leave with Lot and the daughters and mocked his God . Were they married to the daughters yet of a homosexual nature ? That was the sin of Sodom. Did he have sons also ? The angels asked about sons and sons in law? Was Lot an elder or judge ? He sat at the gate and that is what I understood that to mean.

Understanding God’s Word After The Rapture

Published: June 14, 2010 (Originally published: June 13, 2010)
Q

Understanding of how thorough the Lord is concerning His word, would it not make sense that He would also have those in mind that will be left behind? I do believe that scripture will be understood well (Matt. 24 etc) for them, by them. We try (you have done an excellent job) to explain scripture that is meant for those who will be left.

I Will Not Do That!

Published: June 4, 2010 (Originally published: June 3, 2010)
Q

Recently you answered a question that dealt with 2 Timothy 3:1-5. Is your response saying we are to having nothing to do with unsaved family after we have tried to talk to them about Salvation, and they do not want to listen? I don’t think I could turn my back on my elderly parents and my siblings. That seems like a very, very poor witness. In fact, I will not do that. Am I misunderstanding something here?

The Mark Of The Beast

Published: February 17, 2014 (Originally published: June 3, 2010)
Q

I work on political campaigns and familiarize myself with legislation under debate. During the health care debates a legislative proposal included possible implanting RFID chips into recipients of the “public option”, an implant containing health information and monitoring success or failures of medical issues. As a Christian these proposals scare me, they seem invasive and may provide the ability for abuse.

Talking with my father, I mentioned my concern and stated that I would NEVER accept such an implant, in fact I would die before accepting any government mandated implant. Is such a concern irrational? I believe, as Christians living for Jesus, we should have boundaries we are not willing to cross. To me a government chip/implant is crossing the boundary. I know the same concern ran rampant when the social security numbers were administered but I think something in line with the RFID (failed) proposal is different and much more dangerous.

Why Seventy Years In Babylon?

Published: June 4, 2010 (Originally published: June 3, 2010)
Q

My understanding has been that the 70 years Israel spent in exile in Babylon had to do with the Sabbath years that the Lord had commanded them to observe when they came into the Promised Land. (Lev. 25:4) The time they spent in exile was to make up the years of rest that the land had been denied by the Israelites not observing this command from the Lord. Is this correct?

Confirming The 70 Year Life Span

Published: June 5, 2010 (Originally published: June 4, 2010)
Q

I’ve looked at Psalm 90:10 and it seems to say an average Biblical life span is between 70-80 years. You’ve locked onto the 70 year figure. Aren’t you trying to make it fit your opinion? Couldn’t the magic number just as easily be 80? Or we could split the difference and call it 75. Why does it have to be 70 years?

Helping My Sister Out Of A Sinful Situation

Published: June 5, 2010 (Originally published: June 4, 2010)
Q

My sister has recently given her life to the Lord and feels very convicted for living in sin with her boyfriend who is in the process of being divorced. Her boyfriend is a believer but does not show the fruit–he feels no conviction about living in sin with my sister, doesn’t read the bible regularly or go to church.

My friends have opened their home to her to stay for a few months while she tries to develop an independent life, but she wants to continue seeing her boyfriend, hoping that they can refrain from sexual immorality and that he will get right with God. My husband completely disagrees with her decision and is pressuring our friends to rescind the offer unless she ends her relationship with her boyfriend.

By the way, wouldn’t the Lord want him to NOT divorce his ex wife and try and restore that relationship?

Lot And His Daughters

Published: June 5, 2010 (Originally published: June 4, 2010)
Q

I know the story of Lot’s wife and the pillar of salt, and that Lot found favor in the Lord, but am confused how the Lord protected Lot when two of his grandsons, Moab and Ammon, were the result of an incestuous relationship between Lot and his two daughters. Surely this would be a gross sin?

What’s The Mystery Of God?

Published: June 6, 2010 (Originally published: June 5, 2010)
Q

Thank you for your ministry. I have a question regarding Revelation 10:7. What mystery of God will be accomplished? It says that the prophets announced it previously, but I haven’t found any references to this passage in my research. It seems way late in the text to be a reference to the Rapture.
