I heard another prophecy teacher say that the key to the end times is Jerusalem, based on Psalm 102:15-16 and Luke 21:24. Therefore, the end times generation would begin in 1967, not 1948. Please comment.
Jerusalem is connected with the 2nd Coming as Psalm 102:15-16 indicates. And the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967 is an important prophetic sign. But in Luke 21:24 Jesus said Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. According to Rev. 11:2 Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles for 42 months. Since the timing of Rev. 11 is just before the beginning of the Great Tribulation, and since 42 months is equivalent to 3 1/2 years, the duration of the Great Tribulation, that means Jerusalem will not be free from Gentile trampling until the 2nd Coming.
The end times could not have begun until Israel came into existence again (which happened in 1948) because there has to be a Jewish nation for Daniel’s 70th week to commence.
But as we can see from the above references the same cannot be said of the reunification of Jerusalem. Therefore I don’t think 1967 can seen as the point at which the end times generation began.
