Adultery And The Rapture

Q

My question is about my husband of 35 years plus 3 lived together before marriage. I found out for sure last Christmas that he has a mistress and has been seeing her for at least 3 years. He is a born again christian still living with me and our 20 year old son. He takes trips with and sees his girlfriend every weekend. Visits her almost every day after work, then comes home to sleep in the guestroom. My question is, if he is living like this will he still be taken in the rapture?

A

If your husband is truly born again, then he’ll go in the rapture with the rest of us (Ephesians 1:13-14). Jesus knew every sin of our life before we committed even one of them, and took them all to the cross (Colossians 2:13-14). When we ask Him to be our Savior the entire slate is wiped clean, past, present, and future.

This doesn’t mean the Lord approves of your husband’s behavior. It means He knew about it in advance and paid the penalty for it at the cross. Nor does it mean your husband will escape the earthly consequences of his behavior. It just means if he was saved before this began, he’ll still be saved after it’s over.
