Re: Amos 1:6-7. I first discovered this scripture about the time I discovered the scripture about the destruction of Damascus. Is this part of the Psams 83 prophecy about the defeat of Egypt and the destruction of Damascus? Isn’t Jordan a part of this as well and Amman Jordan destroyed at this time?

Amos 1:6-7 reads as follows. This is what the LORD says: “For three sins of Gaza, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath . Because she took captive whole communities and sold them to Edom, I will send fire upon the walls of Gaza that will consume her fortresses.”
I believe the original Philistines were wiped out by Egypt (Jeremiah 47:1-4), and that’s what Amos prophesied. I think Psalm 83 is speaking of the people who now occupy the land that was once theirs. I think the same is true of the other references to Israel’s neighbors.
