Q
Every picture of Jesus we see with long hair and beard. Was there any evidence found to this effect?
A
It was the custom of religious Jewish men to wear long hair and beards then as it is in some branches of Judaism even today. Leviticus 20:27 forbids cutting the hair at the side of the head or clipping the edges of the beard. Only those who followed the Greek traditions or had infectious diseases cut their hair and beards.
Also in Isaiah 50:6, there’s a prophecy that the Messiah would be beaten and have His beard pulled out. Since Jesus fulfilled all the Messianic prophecies, this tells us that He had one when He was arrested.
