Re: Famed pastor predicts imminent catastrophe – Best-selling author, Teen Challenge founder, sees ‘earth-shattering calamity about to happen’

A respected pastor, best-selling author and founder of a major ministry to teens predicts an imminent “an earth-shattering calamity” centered in New York City that will spread to major urban areas across the country and around the world – part of what he sees as a judgment from God.

I am confused, does God use people to prophecy like this today? Could David Wilkerson be right?

A

Yes. God has given some people the Gift of Prophecy (1 Cor. 12:1-11) and this prophecy will eventually come true. The question is when. The most likely time would be during Daniel’s 70th Week, and especially the last half, AKA the Great Tribulation.

Other than that, there aren’t very many events that could cause riots to break out in major cities around the world. Even a gigantic terrorist attack would be unlikely to cause this. For example, when New York and Washington were attacked on 9-11 it didn’t cause riots in major cities around the world.

I can only think of a couple of things that would cause the whole world to suddenly erupt like this before the Great tribulation. One would be the total collapse of the world’s economic system, which is a possibility. But the most likely event would be the rapture of the Church, which would cause the unexplained disappearance of large numbers of people from many of the world’s major cities, and scare the you know what out of everyone who is left.
