In placing the glorious appearing as between 2018 and 2037, that being our possible window, I’m deducing that time frame exists because you feel that Is. 11:11-12 was fulfilled in 1948 at the re-birth of Israel.
Upon reading that passage it seems that this will be fulfilled during the millennium. Also, in Luke 21:20-24, Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled; how can you be sure this has already been fulfilled when the next verse speaks of signs in the sun moon and stars which clearly hasn’t happened yet.
I understand relating this generation to the one living at the time these signs are given, but find it difficult to cross reference it with the prophecies specifically related to the re-birth of Israel. I think I must be missing something here.
The re-birth of Israel is something that officially began in 1948 but won’t be completely fulfilled until Israel is a Messiah believing nation at the center of God’s focus in the Millennium and His home on Earth. Likewise the times of the Gentiles only end completely at the 2nd coming. But the Lord said that the people being born when the end times signs began would still be alive to see their completion. Since end times prophecies require that Israel would exist again, its re-birth is considered to be a major sign.
Israel disappeared from the face of the Earth after the Roman conquest and wasn’t seen again until our times. Isaiah 11:11 prophesied a 2nd re-gathering, and the first one took place after the Babylonian captivity. Ezekiel 38:8 says that the land would lie desolate for a long time until its people were regathered from many nations and had recovered from war. This was Isaiah’s 2nd regathering and could have not have happened before WW2. Amos 9 says that Israel would be completely destroyed, but that it would be regathered in the last days, and the Temple rebuilt. He said that once the nation was regathered then, it would never be dispersed again, confirming that there would only be two re-gatherings. (Amos 9:14-15) History tells us that there was one after Babylon and one after WW2. There won’t be any others.
Likewise Jerusalem was not under total control of the Jews from the time of Jesus until 1967. (Israel only gave the Moslems administrative control of the Temple Mount, not ownership.) The signs in the sun, moon, and stars mentioned in Luke 21:25 will occur during the last 7 years before the 2nd Coming. Zech 14 says that just before the Lord’s return, Jerusalem will be attacked and half of it will go into exile, implying that the city had been whole previously. So a unified Jerusalem is considered to be another major sign.
Luke 21:28 says that when these things begin to happen to stand up and lift up our heads because our redemption is drawing near. We don’t have to wait until they’re completed.
