Greater Things Than These?

Q

I have a question related to something Jesus said in John 14:12. “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these.” Some take this scripture to mean all sorts of things that just don’t square with my own understanding of God’s word. I’m not sure their doctrine is sound. What do you think He meant by that?

A

Jesus defied the laws of nature, cast out demons, restored crippled limbs, opened blind eyes and deaf ears, healed the sick, and raised the dead. What greater works could anyone do? I believe he was referring to the fact that while only a few thousand were directly affected by his ministry, billions have been saved through the Church.
