Q. I was wondering if you believe people are under a supernatural delusion as described in 2 Thessalonians 2:11 today or will this powerful delusion not be sent until some time during the Tribulation? It seems to me that people are walking around today unable to discern truth from lies. They seem to be oblivious to the rise of evilness and corruptness not only in other countries but also right here in the U.S. When do you think the Lord will send this strong delusion to the people who have not learned the truth of his existence?
A. I believe the conditions you describe are signs that the end of the age is upon us. But Paul wrote that the powerful delusion the Lord will send will come after the anti-Christ is revealed and is specifically intended to cause unbelievers to believe “the lie”. I think the lie will be the anti-Christ’s claim that he is God. Put 2 Thes. 2:4, 2 Thes. 2:9-12, and Rev. 13:8 together and you will see what I mean.
By the way, 2 thes. 2 :9-12 discloses that this strong delusion will not come upon those who haven’t learned the truth but upon those who have learned it and have firmly rejected it.
