Q. How do you think (or describe) Jesus actually “Sprinkled His Blood” on the altar in Heaven? This question comes to my simple mind every time I see the act mentioned and your explanation would be greatly appreciated. If you have explained this in another article would you direct me towards it.
A. No one on Earth knows exactly how he did it. Hebrews 9:11-14 tells us what He accomplished and it’s theologically consistent with the atonement ceremony of Yom Kippur. In Colossians 2:17 Paul said these ceremonies were a shadow of things that were to come, but the reality is found in Christ.
By looking at the shadow, we get some idea of the reality. On Yom Kippur the High Priest carried the blood of the goat that had been chosen as a peace offering into the Holy of Holies in a golden bowl. Dipping his finger in the blood he sprinkled a few drops on the altar, repeating the act seven times.
If this was a true foreshadowing of what Jesus would do as our High priest, then the same procedure was likely followed. As for how or when He got His own blood to use, that’s something you’ll have to ask Him.
