The Ten Lost Tribes Of Israel

Q

While doing research on the Lost Tribes of Israel, I came across a lot of sites that truly believe Manasseh and Ephraim have become the nations of Britain and America. They say that Joseph brought his two sons to Jacob, that he might bless them before he died. One was to become a great nation while the other would become an Even greater nation of many peoples. The research states that Manasseh means, “to forget,” and thus these people are unaware that they are the lost tribes.

With current situations as they are and Britain and America’s role with Israel, do you think that this is possible? Could this be referred to as the “Time of Jacobs trouble?”

Of the Tribe of Dan, it is stated that he will judge his people. Could the Anti-Christ perhaps be from one of these nations, not knowing his lineage, or perhaps from the Tribe of Dan?

Knowing the Jewish people are awaiting their Messiah, I remember Jesus said, “I come in my Father’s name and you receive me not, another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” I can not imagine the Jewish people accepting any Muslim as their coming Messiah. Do you think possibly these tribes are active in these times, unaware? Thank you again for your great teachings!

A

The idea of 10 lost tribes is a myth that arose out of the defeat of the Northern Kingdom in 732 BC. But although the land occupied by the Northern Kingdom was taken by Assyria and the residents dispersed, the 10 tribes who had lived there were not lost. Over 200 years earlier, when the North sank into idolatry after the death of King Solomon, the faithful from all the tribes in the North abandoned their land and moved south. (2 Chronicles 11:16) From that time forward all 12 tribes were represented in the Southern Kingdom.

The phrase “Time of Jacob’s Trouble” comes from Jeremiah 30:7 and refers to the Great Tribulation

As for not accepting a Muslim Messiah, remember that the anti-Christ first comes on the scene as a man of peace who helps Israel to rebuild their Temple. At the beginning of Daniel’s 70th Week, he’s seen as the greatest friend Israel has ever had. It’s not until the middle of the week when he proclaims himself to be God that he turns on Israel. The Lord warned those believers living in Judea at the time to flee into the mountains to escape the Great Tribulation which will begin immediately thereafter.

In Isaiah 28:15 the Lord accused Israel of making a covenant with death to hide them from the overwhelming scourge. But in verse 18 the Lord says their covenant will be annulled and they will be beaten down by it. I believe this is a reference to the anti-Christ’s betrayal in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week.

In Ezekiel 44:7-8 when the Lord takes up residence in the Millennial Temple He will accuse Israel of putting foreigners uncircumcised in heart or flesh in charge of His temple. Uncircumcised in heart means not Christian, uncircumcised in flesh means not Jewish.

Ezekiel’s prophecy eliminates Ephraim, Manasseh, and Dan as candidates for anti-Christ as well.
