What does the Bible have to say about the dividing of Jerusalem in the last days, and where does that fit in to the time line of last days events?

The only reference to a divided Jerusalem in the last days is in Zechariah 14:2 during the Battle of Armageddon. Zechariah 12:2 says that in the last days Jerusalem will be an immovable rock and all who try to move it will injure themselves.
These verses make me think that any attempt to divide Jerusalem before then will either fail or be very short lived, and those involved will wish they had never thought of it.
