This week in Mexico 1-30-26
Here’s a glimpse of our week of outreaches in Mexico.

Happy weekend, GTF fam!
How has your week been? We went from it being very cold, to the dry hot winds from the east. The pressure swing is brutal on heads, so I’m trying to go little by little to get these ready to share with you.
Nathan’s Surgery
Nathan is part of our Escuelita group and the son of Israel and Erica. The home project we did for them last year was such a fun, full-circle blessing from the Lord. It’s a reminder that God is working before we even know the need (and their next chapter continues this trend!). What we gave to a different family years ago, became an answered prayer for this family. (You can see the beginning of the project here. And the ending full of generosity.) When the Lord is involved, He accounts for everyone’s needs.
This is such a special family. Nathan has had a painful growth on his foot for over a year. They went through a long road of the doctors shaving it off, just to have it grow back, and biopsies to see if it was cancerous (it’s not!) Each time it came back. It’s taken a long time to determine the cause, and they think it’s a bone growth requiring a more invasive surgery.

While all this was happening. Erica went to the doctor, miserable and thinking she was entering menopause. But she was several months pregnant! She was nervous at first, because her pregnancy with Nathan had almost ended in neither of them making it. She’s still pretty traumatised from it, and it’s the reason Israel took a job that doesn’t pay enough, but offers a special medical network and insurance.

But the doctors have been great and have soothed her worries. At the point in her pregnancy with Nathan, she had already been very sick, and with this one, she didn’t even know she was pregnant! Because of the risk with preeclampsia and going into labor, they aren’t taking any chances and have scheduled a C-section next week. Nathan is so excited to be a big brother!
This kid was scared, but also very hopeful to be done with this pain. He’s been in constant pain for over a year now. General anesthesia is always a bit scary, but the surgery went very well, and they were released the same day.
Please pray with us for his recovery, and for an uneventful delivery for his mom and new baby sister. ♥

Groceries to families in need
Our first stop!

Our second stop
The woman helping us hand out groceries and snacks for the kids is the one we helped a couple of years ago after they lost their home and tamale business in a fire. She is always the first to offer to help. ♥

Our Escuelita – kids group

Our House Project – Jaime and Vanessa
The walls continue going up! When we work with wood framing and drywall, our crew is always amazed at how quickly we can raise the walls. Building with concrete block is laborious and heavy work, raising the walls. But it’s more durable, especially with the increased risk of wildfires. (You can see the beginning of this project – along with the wrap up to Israel’s, here )

God is doing amazing things here, and I’m so grateful for your prayers and support that make it possible. Thank you so much for praying with us for those we serve together! ♥
