This week in Mexico 10-11-24

Here’s a glimpse of our week of outreaches in Mexico.

Thank you everyone so much for your prayers! Fall has brought extreme barometric pressure changes here on the coast, and I’ve really struggled the past couple of weeks with intense migraines. I’m so grateful for this group who keeps us in prayer and I’m so excited to finally be able to look at a computer screen and share these photos with you! ♥

Bringing groceries to the refugee camp

The government contact who visits the refugee camps told us that parts of the programs to help people resettle are going away soon. After the influx of refugees a few years ago, the government created programs to help refugees settle here. They had their own immigration contacts and help. They were fast-tracked into getting the paperwork they need to get jobs and become members of the community. Not even she knew exactly what this meant or when it would affect them, but the heads-up allows us to begin praying for each family here for God’s provision for them.  Until they get the papers they need for work, the only jobs available to them are dangerous and pay almost nothing—work that no one with other options would take.

Groceries to families who lost their homes to fires

Groceries for the moms of our kids’ group!

New project!

Bedrooms for a family of 5

I’m so excited to share this with you! Some in our group asked if they could bless some of the families of our construction crew—who work building and repairing homes for others. They expressed how the clear mandate in Scripture to take care of widows and the fatherless was so important, but that they also felt a prompting to help the families of our crew. We talked about how in many helping programs, families can be excluded for having a dad in the picture. They wanted to support some families that might get overlooked and thought the men of our crew were exactly what the Lord was prompting.

We began praying for this, and the Lord moved the hearts of many. And I’m excited to share with you how we are able to begin! One of the dads on our crew and his wife have three daughters, 11, 6, and 22 months. They’ve built their home bit by bit over the years, but with three kids, it’s been a slow process. Their home was just one room, with kitchen and sleeping areas combined. As their daughters grow, having all 5 of them in one room is getting harder, so we are excited to help them add on some bedrooms!

Below shows how they make bricks here! They build the mounds where the bricks are fired, then dried, all outside in the sun. They cannot do this once the rainy season begins, so they gave us a very good deal on bricks.

The building begins!

Our Escuelita – Our kids’ group

We’ve had indoor toys set aside for the hopeful future room for our escuelita. But we decided we could carefully play with them outside and not have to wait anymore! So we got out the bins and had a blast! We spread out on the tables and the mat from Twister to use on the dirt, and it worked pretty well!

We won’t be able to do this when it rains, but right now, when the weather is mild, it’s perfect.

Trampoline fixed!

The other exciting news is that we were able to get a replacement mat for the trampoline! The other ripped in two places, and we had to disassemble it to keep the kids safe. You may have noticed it sitting on its side in some of the pics before. The kids are so excited to have it back and it really is such a good way to work out all that energy.

Thank you so much for praying with us for those we serve together!
