Who Are The Other Gods?

Q

Thank you for your site -it is a great source of my inspiration. Thanks to your articles and answers to people’s questions published on your site, I feel constantly on fire to study the Word.

I am a bit confused about the meaning of Exodus 22:28 – “Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.” Also in John 10:34 – “Jesus answered them, ‘Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?” What gods does it talk about?

Why Couldn’t Mary Hold Him?

Published: April 13, 2023 (Originally published: April 23, 2009)
Q

The Gospel according to John teaches that after Jesus was resurrected He appeared to Mary Magdalene and instructed her not to “hold” Him because He had not yet ascended to His Father. Yet after that and before the ascension, He told Thomas to place his hand in His side. What happened between the events to allow Thomas to touch Him when Mary could not?

Can God Forgive Me?

Published: April 14, 2023 (Originally published: April 17, 2009)
Q

Some time ago our son died after a long illness. This was the hardest thing I have ever been through. I felt so abandoned by God that for months I lashed out and I even called him names and vowed to become an atheist.

I am finally starting to deal with my son’s death and I also feel so ashamed that I lashed out at my Lord, and turning on him the way I did. I’m afraid he could never forgive me for such an act. Every day I try to get closer to Him again. Can I be forgiven for the way I acted toward him? I need to know because it is a tormenting feeling to be separated from God.

Q

I’ve been reading your answers and it really helped me. Thank you. My question is what you think abut 70 years in Zechraiah? Does it by any chance have somehing to do with the 70 years of lifespan? And does that possibly mean 70 years since 1948?

Was His Body Broken?

Published: April 17, 2023 (Originally published: April 26, 2010)
Q

Thank you for your ministry. I have a question about the communion service. Some translations say, “This is my body, which is broken for you.” Others say, “is for you”, “betrayed for you”, or “given for you”. Psalm 34:20 and John 19:36 say, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.” How can it be correct to say His body was broken?

A Burning Question

Published: April 17, 2023 (Originally published: April 10, 2011)
Q

One of my children is disabled. He is deaf, slightly vision impaired, and slightly learning disabled. My son is 12 years old and he has accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He did so at the age of 10 years old. He has asked me since getting saved if his spirit will be disabled too. He wants to know if when his disabled body dies and his spirit leaves his body to go home to Jesus will it be “whole”? Basically, he knows his body doesn’t work because it is broken in certain places. He wants to believe that when his spirit leaves his body that his spirit will see, hear, understand, etc…normally. He does not want his spirit to be disabled like his body.

I want to tell him this is true, but I am not sure. I don’t want to say something to him that is not true. Your time on this question is so appreciated, not only to me, but to a 12 year old boy who’s life up until now has not been easy nor will his future be.
