Forgive All My Sins

Published: February 27, 2016 (Originally published: February 27, 2016)
Q

When we confess our sins to God, are we to be specific? Or maybe say something like “I confess I am a sinner and ask you to forgive my sins and wash me clean with the blood of my Beloved Jesus”? The thing is, I try to confess when I pray, but sometimes I can’t think of everything I need to confess. Please don’t get me wrong. I know I’m a sinner and have probably done many things I just don’t remember. How specific do we need to get?

Forgiveness And Restoration

Published: February 20, 2016 (Originally published: February 23, 2016)
Q

My question is about forgiveness. What does it really mean to forgive someone? I think there are two parts to it: refusing to seek revenge for the sin committed against you, and restoring the offender to the relationship that he/she previously had with you. It is the second part that I am having a problem with. I have no problem “forgiving”, by walking away and refusing to seek revenge, but do I have to restore people (who through their hurtful actions have proven to be disloyal and untrustworthy) to previous positions of trust?

The Doctrine Of Imminency

Published: February 23, 2016 (Originally published: February 22, 2016)
Q

I have always heard men talk about the teaching of the Immanency of Christ’s return; that he can return at any moment and that there aren’t any “signs” that have to occur first. I really don’t understand this. It seems to me that, there were some signs and are others still, that have to happen before the Lord returns for us at the Rapture.

For example, didn’t Israel have to be reestablished as an independent nation again, first? If so, then throughout prior church history until Israel was a nation again, how could his return have been imminent? One other example is the battle described in Ezek.38-39. This battle can’t happen until, as Ezek.38:14 says, it happens “In that day when my people of Israel dwell safely,”. They are not dwelling safely (or securely) today. They are attacked frequently. I really can’t see how the doctrine (or teaching) of Imminence can stand. Do you have any views on this?

The Temptation Of Jesus

Published: February 18, 2016 (Originally published: February 22, 2016)
Q

After Jesus was anointed and filled by the Holy Spirit he was led into the wilderness, fasted 40 days and was tempted by Satan. If you have a study on why this had to happen in this way could you direct me to it please. And was Jesus tempted before he was filled by the Holy Spirit for his ministry on earth?

Am I Deluding Myself?

Published: February 18, 2016 (Originally published: February 22, 2016)
Q

I have had periods when I have been close to God and periods when I lived in adultery and alcoholic fogs. I have asked for forgiveness, but have never “felt” forgiven and I daily live with the regret and guilt of the things I did to totally wreck my career and my first marriage. I know I am paying the natural price now (not God’s punishment) for my own acts. I think I have been forgiven, but I lack the “Blessed Assurance” I have prayed for.

I think that God, knowing my pride, wants to keep me doubting so I will stay in constant contact with Him. It’s either that or I am not really saved and have been deluding myself. Would God let that happen?

Did The Lord Violate His Own Commandment?

Published: February 18, 2016 (Originally published: February 21, 2016)
Q

Having just watched a television movie about Moses, I wondered why God told Moses and his people “Thou shall not kill” as part of the 10 commandments, yet a short time later, in Joshua, God commands his people to kill every one, women and children included?

When Did Satan Fall?

I was just wondering what evidence there is to point to the timing of Satan’s fall. Particularly as it pertains to it being before or after the creation of man.

Who Created God?

Published: February 22, 2016 (Originally published: February 24, 2016)
Q

A friend at work asked me who created God. In Genesis 1:1 it says, “In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth.” I believe that with my whole mind, heart and soul, but it doesn’t answer the question of who created God, where did He come from, or how did He come into being?

Is Only God Immortal?

Published: February 22, 2016 (Originally published: February 24, 2016)
Q

I recently read that the idea of eternal punishment came about “because of a preconceived, unbiblical notion that the soul is immortal (see 1 Tim. 6:15-16). We have read eternal torment into the Scriptures when it was never intended for mankind. Hell was created for Satan and his Angels, not for Mankind and it is Satan and his demonic hordes who will be consigned to Hell and its torments eternally.” Do you believe 1 Tim. 6:15-16 actually means mans soul is not immortal and that it could be destroyed after serving a period of time in Hell?
