Were Jesus And John Cousins?

Published: November 29, 2015 (Originally published: December 6, 2015)
Q

While re-reading Luke a question popped up regarding the relationship between John the Baptist and Jesus. How could they be cousins if one was from Levi and the other Judah? Had marriage between tribes become a more normal occurrence? Or just an accepted practice in Judah after the split from Israel.

Faith To Be Saved

Published: December 6, 2015 (Originally published: December 9, 2015)
Q

I can’t seem to have faith that I am truly saved. Whenever something happens that I think I might die ( illness, near misses, etc.) I panic and become unsure if I’m really saved. I start asking myself if I did everything right in order to be saved because it is grace through faith and I seem to lack faith. Does this frequent doubting of my faith mean I’m not saved?

Am I Being Called?

Published: December 6, 2015 (Originally published: December 8, 2015)
Q

How do you know if you’re “being called” ? I understand that we are all called to be a light in the world and let the Holy Spirit shine through us as we go about our daily lives. However, there are those (like you for instance) who somehow come to a place in their lives where it’s obvious that the Lord wants them to minister to others in a more “official” capacity.

I have been struggling with this more and more lately, which makes me think, “Is the fact that I’m struggling, a sign that I’m being called”? I have not received a clear and undeniable “word from the Lord” that I am aware of… it’s more of a thought that just seems to hang around but never really leaves.

Why Will They Switch?

Published: November 29, 2015 (Originally published: December 3, 2015)
Q

I was reading your perspective of Revelation, and in chapter 6 you say: “After the true Church is gone, those who also call themselves the church, but have been left behind, won’t have much trouble at all accepting Islam.” Can you please explain why people will switch to Islam after the rapture? Wouldn’t the rapture be proof of Jesus and Christianity?

Was Jesus The First Created Being?

Published: November 29, 2015 (Originally published: December 3, 2015)
Q

It appears to me that God’s first creation was The Word. Rev 3:14 says, “And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;” Angels and all else were created by God through The Word. “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3). Do you think that’s what Rev 3:14 means?

What Does It Mean To Fear The Lord?

Published: November 29, 2015 (Originally published: December 2, 2015)
Q

My question concerns fearing the Lord. What exactly does that mean ? I have Christian friends that say we should “fear the Lord” or “fear God”. Some go so far as to say, they are afraid of Him, and that we should be afraid of Him. I don’t fear Him, He’s my Father and I’m not afraid of Him. I respect His authority, and I know He’ll correct me when I need it. Should I have a sense of fear ?

Recently I was thinking about the so called Star of Bethlehem. Do you think it really was a star in the sky that the whole world could see or was it something that only those who knew where to look would have recognized?

More On Mary And Elizabeth

Published: November 29, 2015 (Originally published: December 2, 2015)
Q

Scripture seems to indicate a special relationship between Mary and Elizabeth. Perhaps they were well acquainted with one another, but rather than God saying “your friend Elizabeth” He said “your cousin Elizabeth” to emphasize the the fact that as “children of Israel” they were related.
