Can we Lose Our Salvation? Follow Up

Published: January 30, 2015 (Originally published: January 30, 2015)
Q

Re: “Can We Lose Our Salvation Through Disobedience” In your response about the fear of losing one’s salvation, I have a question. My understanding is if we fear that we can loose our salvation then we are trusting in ourselves and not in God’s provision. Therefore we are not truly saved because we are in essence trusting only in ourselves and not in God for our salvation. The fear of doing something that would loose our salvation is depending on our own works to save us and not trusting in God to save us. So I consider people who believe they can loose their salvation are not really saved at all. Please help me with this if it is incorrect.

Understanding The Bible

I find it sometimes almost unbelievable on how you put it all together and make the Bible so much clearer and easier to understand. With there being a “simplicity in Jesus Christ”, why do you think it is so hard for so many to understand and/or do the “Berean research” in understanding the Bible? I understand human nature and always trying to “read between the lines” and such, but is there any Scripture that explains why Jesus believing people have a hard time understanding the Bible?

Mark 13:20 “And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.” Doesn’t this tell us that at least some of the Elect survive the Tribulation, and go into the Millennial Kingdom?

Problems With Amillennialism, Etc

Published: January 31, 2015 (Originally published: January 31, 2015)
Q

Thank you for a superb site proclaiming the truth of God’s Holy Word . When I got saved some 23 years ago I just assumed Christians took Scripture plainly at face value . I now know this is not necessarily so . My concern is : There are saved Ministers out there preaching Salvation thru Christ faithfully with many converts , whilst holding an amillennial view claiming God’s Word is “contained” in Scripture rather than Scripture is God’s Word.

I cannot reconcile how it is possible for a saved Christian to be comfortable distorting large portions of Scripture and how they as teachers ultimately sit with God . I have deep concern for them , but more so for their congregations . Where I live in Scotland , this unfortunately is the norm . I have tried gently to encourage a serious study in this area , but have met with solid resistance . It troubles me greatly as I can no longer continue Bible study with them where replacement theology is taught . Some direction would be much appreciated .

Our small group is studying Matthew. When we got to Matthew 9:16-17, a lengthy discussion broke out, as to the meaning, and we couldn’t come to an agreement. Please give me your understanding of these two verses.

Called To Worship?

Published: January 31, 2015 (Originally published: February 1, 2015)
Q

We are studying Revelation in a Bible study and in chapter four we get a glimpse of heaven where God is being worshiped. My question is why are we called to worship God and will this be our eternal purpose. The word ‘worship’ can sometimes seem egotistical and I know God is not egotistical so why does He want us to worship Him.

Are Today’s Jews The Right Jews?

Published: January 31, 2015 (Originally published: February 1, 2015)
Q

Reading Hosea chapter 3 I feel I’m reading a synopsis, a summary of the book itself. Clearly, we see a return promised here in vs. 5: “…Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days.”

So many believe that those living in the “Holy Land” today, right now, are not really the “returnees” promised here in Hosea 3, and in several other passages. Is the Israel today the “right” Israel?

How long have humans been on earth? I have read your answer on this topic and if I remember correctly, you stated that Adam & Eve were created about 6 thousand years ago. But scientists have discovered the human remains of a 4.5 million year old woman. I’m confused, and I look forward to reading your answer.

The Water Vapor Canopy

Published: February 1, 2015 (Originally published: February 2, 2015)
Q

I know you believe there was a water vapor canopy surrounding the Earth before the flood, but I recently read an article claiming that both the Bible and science agree that couldn’t have been so. The author’s conclusions are based on two Hebrew words in Genesis 1:6-7 and the fact that our atmosphere couldn’t support the amount of water it would take. What do you think? Did God change the atmosphere so He could put the water vapor canopy in place?

The Seed Of The Woman

Q

I know Genesis 3:15 is the first reference to a coming redeemer, but my question relates to the comment in that verse where I understand God is speaking to Satan and says “And I will put enmity…between your seed and her seed”. I know what “her seed” is, in reference to many generations to follow. But what does it mean when God says of “your seed” (Satan’s)?
