Blessed But Not Married

Q

Why does it seem as though God is blessing many Christian relationships who are having premarital sex? I know there are plenty of failed and broken families that occur.
But there are others where professing Christians (who claim Jesus as their Savior and that He is the only way) are so happy and joyful about a pregnancy in their committed, yet unmarried relationships. I know God doesn’t “discipline” the unsaved, but where is the discipline for those who are His children? What about the principles of sowing and reaping?

A

It’s important to remember that God judges people by the motives of their heart, not by outward appearances. I have long believed that many “legally” married couples no longer have any love for each other and fail to meet any of the standards of a Biblical marriage, while others are committed loving couples who meet all God’s requirements but for one reason or another have never gone to the court house to obtain a license. I don’t think it’s our place to say that the first group deserves God’s blessing while the second group deserves His discipline.

In 1 Cor. 4:5 Paul said, ” Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.”
