Q. Who are the cowards of Revelation 21:8? One person wrote they are those that do not witness for Christ as a born again believer. I am rather timid and although I try to witness, if only to give out Bible tracts, this troubles me.
A. We shouldn’t allow the unsupported opinions of people who aren’t Biblically informed to concern us. In Acts 17:11 Paul cautioned us to always check with Scriptures before accepting anything we’re told. When we take Paul’s advice we learn that our salvation is not conditioned upon witnessing or any other outward act. It’s conditioned only upon our belief that Jesus died for our sins and rose again (1 Cor. 15:1-4). No born again believer will be excluded from spending eternity with the Lord. He has guaranteed this (Ephes. 1:13-14).
Rev. 21:8 speaks of the time after the 2nd Coming when the Church will be housed in the New Jerusalem and unbelievers who survived the Great Tribulation will be cast into the lake of fire. Jesus spoke of this in Matt. 25:41-46.
