My husband is a Christian but yet he is constantly bad-mouthing me to his friends and letting his friends call me some pretty terrible names. He also is constantly discussing our marital business with them. Is there anywhere in the Bible that says this is wrong? If so, could you please give me some scriptures on this?
Ephesians 5:25 says, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.
Or take Colossians 3:19, Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
And then there’s 1 Peter 3:7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
A man is commanded to be loving, considerate and respectful toward his wife. He may feel hurt badly, and this is his way of getting back, or else his self-esteem is so low for some other reason that he has to put you down to build himself up. Regardless of his motives, this is something that needs to be addressed and resolved before it destroys the relationship. If you can’t correct this between yourselves, go to your pastor or a counselor for help.
