Is All The Bible Inspired?

Published: June 11, 2016
Q

It has always puzzled me that Christians use 2 Tim 3:16 to say that the Bible as we know it is all holy and inspired. When Paul wrote this he was talking about the 1st 5 books of the bible. The bible as we know it had not been written yet, or put together. He did not say that this letter I am writing is holy and inspired. So If you use 2 Tim 3:16 to support the whole bible being holy and inspired, you are implying something that is not there. Is there some other verse that supports the whole bible being holy and inspired, not just the first of the old testament?

Times Of The Gentiles Vs. The Church Age

Published: June 11, 2016
Q

I’ve been intrigued by the posts regarding the “Times of the Gentiles” and whether or not that time continues through Daniel’s 70th week. I am confused regarding the terminology of the Church Age and the Times of the Gentiles. It seems like you are saying that they are different, overlapping time periods – the Church Age started with Jesus’ resurrection and ends with the rapture, but the Times of the Gentiles started with the destruction of the temple and continues through the 70th week, right? I guess I’m confused because I thought the 70th week was when God completed his plan for the Jewish people, not the Gentiles?

Has Everyone Sinned?

Published: June 11, 2016
Q

How I can show my friend that where it says “for all have sinned” it really does mean “all”? This is one verse he tries to switch to make it say “not all will sin.” to prove he doesn’t sin and therefore doesn’t need a Savior. I’ve prayed constantly for him on this matter, and I pray the Lord will guide him to truth.

A Mansion Or A New Body?

Published: June 11, 2016
Q

In John 14:2 Jesus said he goes to prepare a place for us. I’ve heard that the “place” prepared may not be a mansion or room but that it may be the new body Jesus prepared. My question is: why do we need a place (room; mansion)? When we get there, there will be no private entertainment such as television, we probably will not have a need to be alone so we won’t need a room for solitude, we won’t need the privacy of using a bathroom because the body will probably consume all of what we eat, and we probably won’t need sleep due to the nature of our glorified bodies. A lot of things we do on earth will not be needed in the New Jerusalem.

How Can We Know God’s Will For Our Lives?

Published: June 5, 2016
Q

My daughter is married with three children. I was talking to her today and she was in tears because she very much wants to do something here on earth for the Lord. She says that all she does is raise her children and do housework. I told her that the Bible says even if you give a cup of water in His name, there is a reward, and that not all of us have big ministries. She said she doesn’t want a big ministry, but just wants to do something more than she is doing now.

What more can I tell her? Isn’t raising up children in the way they should go a big thing in God’s eyes?

Question On Capital Punishment

Published: June 5, 2016
Q

I have been dealing with non-believers who are calling me a hypocrite and unmerciful for being a supporter of capital punishment. They keep quoting the “cast the first stone” verse and misconstruing it to mean that Christians are to be pacifists when it comes to evil. I tried to explain to them about the covenant God made with Noah, but it was like trying to feed meat to an infant. Any suggestions on how I can deal with non-believers piously lecturing me on capital punishment?

As It Was In The Days Of Noah

Published: June 5, 2016
Q

In one of your articles you wrote, “The days before the flood were an extreme test of faith for Noah and his family. Not one person supported their decision to abandon their “normal” life and obey the Lord’s commands. And for seven days after they entered the ark nothing happened. Can you imagine how their friends laughed and jeered while they sat there waiting for the rain to come?” Unquote.

Where does it say in Scripture that nothing happened for seven days after the Lord shut them in the ark? I have looked in all my Bibles and what you said is not recorded in any. In my NKJ version immediately after the Lord shut them in it says (verse 17) “Now the flood was on the earth forty days.” Can you please let me know where you obtained this additional information?

The History And Prophecy Of The Temples

Published: June 5, 2016
Q

You have mentioned that the temple of Ezekiel is yet to be built. I was trying to understand where the instructions are for the other temples that have already been destroyed? When was Ezekiel written with respect the other destroyed temples? How many temples have been created and were they all copies of each other or are they all different layouts?

Will Good Unbelievers Be Punished Less Severely?

Published: June 5, 2016
Q

Because my sister is a non-believer, and accordingly will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven, my question is will she know WHY she’s in Hell and understand that had she just accepted Christ as her personal savior she would be in Heaven? And because she’s a good, kind, generous, and giving person, will her punishment be less than say someone who murders or molests children? I continue to pray daily for her salvation because I know what’s coming.

Was James Writing To The Church?

Published: June 5, 2016
Q

I’ve heard people say the book of James was written for the Jews. If so, how do we appropriate the verses on healing such as James 5:14-15 for ourselves, being gentiles? And if it’s not for the Church, why is it in the Bible?
