I am wondering what to make of Proverbs 8 and the discussion of “Wisdom.” How does this chapter relate to Jesus? Also, what are Christians to make of Apocryphal books like Wisdom of Solomon?
If you read Proverbs 8 carefully, you can see it could be the Lord Himself talking, especially from verse 22 to the end. As such it demonstrates the direction those who acquire true wisdom are headed.
The Wisdom of Solomon (the apocryphal book, not Proverbs or Song of Solomon)is not considered to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. It was composed in the Greek language in Alexandria probably in the first century BC, 800 years after King Solomon died. It appears to be a compilation of several disconnected writings, some of which can not be attributed to Solomon.
