I’ve committed some really bad sins after salvation, will God still forgive me? Please help me, I’ve asked for forgiveness. I’ve lost my joy. I need your help, please.
The issue is not whether God will forgive you, because He has already forgiven you. When Jesus went to the cross, which was long before you were born, He knew every sin of your life and paid the price for all of them at that time. When you first asked Him to be your Savior and forgive your sins, he did so and wiped the slate of your entire life clean (Colossians 2:13-14). At that time He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within you as a deposit guaranteeing your inheritance, which is eternal life with Him (Ephesians 1:13-14). Now no one can take you out of His hands, not even you (John 10:27-30, Romans 8:38-39). Get out your Bible, look these verses up, and see for yourself that this is true.
You’ve lost your joy because of your guilt. This tells me that although God has forgiven you, you have not forgiven yourself, and that’s the real issue. Guilt is a tool the enemy uses to steal our joy. Reading these verses should help you understand that God saves us because of what we believe, not because of how we behave.
You’ve asked God to forgive you. Now ask Him to help you forgive yourself. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7-8).
