This week in Mexico 6-12-26
Here’s a glimpse of our week of outreaches in Mexico. This week, we are wrapping up one house project and getting ready to begin the next. We’ve got all the usual fun pics with our kids and some bonus ones from Mother’s Day that I hadn’t shared yet!

Happy Friday, GTF fam! ♥ I’m so excited to share our outreaches with you this week!
Upcoming Project: Menita
This is Menita. She is a grandma in the community who lives with her daughter and granddaughter in a room attached to the house. They saw how much the railing we did for Maricela helped keep her from being housebound and asked to be thought of if we did any more railings. Her house is on the downhill side of her street, and it’s a much farther walk, and steeper, than Maricella’s. Menita told us that because she has a hard time walking, she only leaves the house now to go to church, and after a recent fall, she can’t even do that. She’s in a lot of pain and trying to recover.

Oscar and Aidan first went over to see what the project would require. There are two different sections of stairs with an area in between. They are falling apart and unstable in many places, and Oscar has recommended that we bring in our crew to turn the steps into ramps, and then have Aidan build the railing alongside.

We’ve been praying for the ability to help Menita
, and we now have the resources to start on Monday! Our guys have just finished the roof for Alejandro and Citlali, and are using up the rest of the cement we have to plaster the inside for them today. And on Monday, they’ll begin the ramp with Menita.

Escuelita Moms
As I was going through photos this week, I realized I hadn’t shared the event we did to honor the moms over Mother’s Day! We’ve had the escuelita for over a decade, but it’s only in the last few years that a fellowship of the moms has grown out of it. It is now a way for the moms to spend time together, be creative, chat, and play with the kids. So we wanted to do something special together, and they came up with the idea of cooking and eating together. We provided the groceries, and all the moms came together to cook and share a meal together. We also got some local stores to pitch in with some fun raffle gifts (raffles are a staple here, it’s how schools and groups often fundraise, and it’s done just for fun at parties). And I found a cute little keychain charm set as an activity they could do that isn’t meant for little ones!

Our Escueltia – kids’ group
Please pray with us for little Kenia, below on the right. She broke her arm a couple of weeks ago. They went to urgent care, and they said it wasn’t bad, and they just half-casted it and wrapped it in a bandage to stabilize. They followed up at the clinic, and the xrays showed it’s since been fractured twice! She definitely needs a full cast. She is a rough-and-tumble kid. The doctor has referred them to a specialist today to make sure it’s okay to just be put in a cast and doesn’t require surgery.

More kids!
Sometimes it’s really hard to whittle these down, so if you’ve already had your fill, you can scroll on, but goodness, they’re just so precious.

Finishing Project: Citlali and Alejandro
The beams are up, and the plywood is on! The guys have just finished putting the tar paper on this morning, and I’ll have those pics ready for you next time. I am breathing a sigh of relief that we’re done with them up so high! Thank you all so much for keeping them covered in prayer!

Some parts of construction seem to drag on forever, and others seem lightning-fast. Once we got to the plywood stage, it went so fast!

God is doing amazing things here, and I’m so grateful for your prayers and support that make it possible. Thank you so much for praying with us for those we serve together! ♥
