First I wanted to thank you for your awesome website. It is very clear that you thoroughly study God’s work and have a good understanding of it. And you have been a tremendous help in motivating me in my walk with the Lord.

Having said that I would like to ask for clarification on your view of suicide. You had stated in answering a previous question that you believed that if a person committed suicide and had previously received the gift of salvation, that person would spend eternity with God. Having been raised Pentecostal, the Once Saved Always Saved belief has not been something I would say I have believed in, but the way you describe it and back it up with scripture, I am tending to believe you have valid points.

Until we get to the issue of suicide. I am having a hard time believing that this is not a sin that will keep you out of heaven. If you are right, then, we Christians could always take the easy way out when things got tough. We could say “I’m ready to be with Jesus, and tired of this world” and take our life, and instantly be with him. That is the one area I have come across that is preventing me from getting completely ‘onboard’ your belief, of OSAS.

My question is simply, how do we reconcile eternal security, (Once Saved Always Saved) with verses like “work out your salvation through fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12). My pastor whom I love very much and support does not believe in OSAS and he brought up this scripture in making that defense.

I have a question about James 5:19-20. It would seem to indicate that someone could taste death by their sinning. In other words, if the person wasn’t turned away from their sin, they would taste death. Yet I know that we are forgiven when we ask. How does this get rectified?

I thought I was secure in my salvation by faith. I was recently told, however, that 2Peter 2:21-22 proved that I could lose that assurance. Is that possible? Now I’m concerned about this. Please advise me on this. Thank you so much.

Regarding OSAS, I believe many people wonder. What about repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I read “I repented before I knew the meaning of the word. I have repented far more since than I did then”. How do you compare “Believe on the Lord Jesus” and “repentance”? That’s not talked about much.

I have a question about post-church salvation. I think I agree with your view about OSAS being only for the church, I wonder how it would be possible for tribulation believers to maintain their own salvation. Isn’t it impossible in any context? Will the Holy Spirit be helping them keep up their strength?

I agree with OSAS, and I concur with the reasons you state. My question, therefore, is for clarification, not to be argumentative. If it is my sin nature, not I that offends after Salvation, why must I continue to confess and ask for forgiveness when I transgress? (I do, and I will continue, but I’m just curious about the logic.)

As a follow up to OSAS and Galatians 5, is it possible for a believer to voluntarily surrender his or her salvation? I have a brother-in-law who got saved and left the Catholic church many years ago, then recently returned to Catholicism because now he believes he has to have the sacraments to be saved. Other members of the family believe he may have lost his salvation. How can I explain to them that he has not?

Thank you for your insight that must be God-given. My parents were instrumental in my spiritual growth, and are very knowledgeable. However, they belong to a church that doesn’t recognize Israel’s rebirth as prophecy fulfilled, don’t believe OSAS, the bodily resurrection, the rapture…I could go on. They (my parents), however, do believe these things. When asked why they stay in that church, they say, “there are many people within that church that believe as we.” I believe that they remain because they’ve gone there for so many years. Should they leave that church for one that adheres more closely to scripture? Thank you.

I was listening to your mp3 bible study in Mark about the parable of the sower. I was saved (I believe) when I was 14 years old, I had no support system as I was the only family member that believed, and all my friends were non-believers also. I have been living as a defeated Christian for years, I have always longed for Jesus’ return yet I have never until recently read the bible or even heard of OSAS. Is it possible that I was the seed that fell on rocky ground? I have lost interest in many of the things I used to enjoy, all I do now is study the bible and your bible study mp3’s.
