Am I Working For The Laodicean Church?

Published: November 12, 2015 (Originally published: November 18, 2015)
Q

Thanks for your site. I’ve just recently become interested in prophecy, and now I can’t get enough.

I have always felt called to work in the church, so when a position opened up a few years ago through kind of unusual circumstances, I believed that God was directing me to it. It is not at all what I expected. This church teaches some of the most bizarre doctrine I’ve ever heard (it is a mainstream Protestant church). I have tried to chalk the nagging feeling that something is really wrong with their theology up to political differences, but with my recent research on Revelation I’m starting to wonder if it fits the description of the apostate church. Yesterday I found a book here by a highly regarded author in this congregation that literally stated that viewing Christ’s death as atonement for our sins is wrong. He actually said, “I don’t want to serve a God that would kill his own son.”

My job here is in communications, so essentially I am responsible for publicizing the church. It terrifies me to think that I am willfully advertising for this kind of thing and drawing people into it. Yet the feeling that I’m called to be in the church remains. Would God actually want to use me in that capacity? I keep praying about this, but so far I have no answer.

By the way, I’m in no position here to voice my opposition to theological doctrine. The powers that be have a pretty tight grip, and they clearly do not think I have anything worthwhile to say on religious matters. I am also not a member; I attend an evangelical church in a neighboring town.

Any insight you have to offer on this situation would be much appreciated. Thank you for faithfully spreading the Truth to the world.

Is My Brother Saved?

Published: November 12, 2015 (Originally published: November 18, 2015)
Q

My brother passed on 4 days ago. He accepted Christ when he was a teenager. He fell in love with a Moslem lady and 2 years ago became a Moslem so that he could marry her. Does Ephesians 1:13-14 apply in his case? We have been praying for him since and felt so sad to see that he died without ever coming back to the Lord. Have we lost him forever or is he still saved?

Dinosaurs And The Great Pyramid

Published: November 11, 2015 (Originally published: November 17, 2015)
Q

I’m just curious as to a couple of your essays. One concerning dinosaurs and the other about the great pyramid. In the one about dinosaurs you state that they came about as a result of genetic manipulation by Satan and his fallen angels. In the other article you state that the great pyramid was created by Ham I think. One of Noah’s sons.

What I’d like to know, is this speculation on your part based on the biblical stories? Or do you have any particular references in the bible, or else where, that gives these ideas? Im not trying to discount your ideas… I just find them interesting, as you are the first person Ive heard them from. I would find it interesting to learn your viewpoints.

By the way keep up the good work on the site. Your teaching about bible prophecy and the end times is clear and concise and well supported by scripture quotes. Which is nice, when trying to verify against the bible. Like the Bereans we must always be diligent to verify against the bible.

Did God Create Sin?

Published: November 11, 2015 (Originally published: November 16, 2015)
Q

I recently “discovered” a verse in the book of Isaiah 45:7 and I quote, I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things]. If a strict interpretation of the bible is used, then this means that God creates evil or in my mind sin? What are your comments regarding this verse?

Life In The New Jerusalem

Published: November 11, 2015 (Originally published: November 16, 2015)
Q

According to Jeremiah 30:11, God will completely destroy the nations during the Great Tribulation. What does the Hebrew word for “destroy” mean? Then, during the Millennium, it sounds as if the “world” begins in an Edenic condition again, so what will happen to restore it to that condition? Will there be miraculous acts by God to restore it physically and socially, and rebuild what sounds like essentially an agrarian society?

I’m excited by the whole scene because I’ve never been able to envision the Church sitting around in the New Jerusalem twiddling our thumbs. I see us as actively participating in meaningful work to rebuild the world and to help Jesus establish a society of justice, peace and plenty for all.

The son of friends has committed suicide and I have no idea how to console them. They were so hopeful that he would eventually come to know the Lord and then this tragedy happened. Is there anything at all in the Bible that could give them any hope for his soul? Anything you could offer would be of great help at this horrible time.

Where Do We Go When We Die?

Published: November 11, 2015 (Originally published: November 16, 2015)
Q

I read your question and answer regarding Paradise. I have been under the impression that when we die we merely fall asleep until the rapture or second coming. Are you saying that we immediately go to heaven? If so can our loved ones already gone there look down and see what is going on here on earth?

Also, what happens to the unsaved when they die? They don’t immediately go to hell do they?

What Happens To An unsaved Soul?

Published: November 11, 2015 (Originally published: November 15, 2015)
Q

I just read ‘Revelation 2 And 3 … Seven Letters To Seven Churches, Part 1, and have a question about the ‘It’s the second death that you have to watch out for. It’s the permanent one.’ statement.

Regarding the second death, what exactly happens to an unsaved soul? I’ve heard three views; the soul is banished to Hell to suffer eternal punishment by torment; the soul is totally destroyed and no longer exists (meaning there is no Hell); and the soul is totally separated from God in some inaccessible place, though not Hell, rather a dark place to spend eternity.

What’s your view?

Receiving For The Wrong We’ve Done

Published: November 11, 2015 (Originally published: November 15, 2015)
Q

I was wondering about Col 3:23-25. It says that whatever we do should be done unto the Lord to receive a reward, but whoever does wrong will receive for the wrong he has done because there is no respect of persons. If whoever means whoever, then does that mean believers will receive for the wrongs they have done?

I Need Help With Prayer

Q

I have been struggling with prayer for some time. I pray quite often but feel like I haven’t got my “message across”. I feel like I have to keep praying and praying saying the same things to make sure he hears me. I feel like if I don’t pray the same thing everyday sometimes 5 or 6 times a day then my prayer will not get answered. Also, I know we aren’t supposed to pray for selfish things, so is praying for God to help sell our house or find a house close to our family where we want to be wrong? Please help.

Apostasy Or Rebellion?

Published: November 11, 2015 (Originally published: November 14, 2015)
Q

I recently encountered an interpretation of 2 Thessalonians 2:3 that was neither the “falling away / apostasy” nor the “departure / rapture” possibilities you have discussed in past posts on GraceThruFaith. The interpretation given was Paul warning believers of a great “rebellion / revolt”. Apparently, the word used in this verse can be rendered this way, and is implied in some translations? The thrust of the passage then suggests a worldwide, satanically-inspired, revolution among people of the world, that would lead to mayhem, and the conditions needed for, everyone to accept a worldwide leader to return order to the world. Is this a valid interpretation?

The Sons Of Noah

Published: November 11, 2015 (Originally published: November 14, 2015)
Q

In Genesis 9, Noah gets out of the boat, plants a vineyard, makes wine, gets drunk and seemingly shames himself. Not judging – I’ve been there before. His youngest son seems to have compassion on this situation and covers the man with his brothers assistance. I’m thinking that deserves a ‘thanks for taking care of me son’ type of response but it ends poorly with a serious curse over his family to be perpetual slaves. Can this be explained without awkward contrivances and rationalizations or is this just one of those things we have to accept and go along with?

Dust, Sand, And Stars

I just read a commentary on the three types of people who represent the seed of Abraham. The author likened them to the Jews, the Arabs, and the Church. I’ve only recognized these Scriptures to be speaking to two groups; the “earthly promises” to Israel and the “heavenly/spiritual promises” to the Church. Would you please clarify.

As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man (Matt 24:37). The time leading up to the Great Flood was a lot like our time today in that it was characterized by a deliberate and escalating disregard for the ways of God.

Explaining Death To A Child

Q

I’m trying to prepare a children’s sermon. How do we explain to children that death is a time of rejoicing, as well as a time of grieving. When relaying the stories of Jesus raising Lazarus and others from the dead- it is hard to convey that all is fair and right to be content to wait til we see our loved ones in heaven. Why is it that He physically raised Lazarus whom He loved, but will not bring back our loved ones and we must wait (and be content to do so) to be reunited with them?

Is The Baptism Of The Holy Spirit Required For Salvation?

Q

In regards to Is Satan A Christian? a question from a little boy, it would do well for all to know that just believing in Jesus alone is not enough to be resurrected to life. We must have the spirit of God indwelling us. We must be baptized into His Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit revealing truth to us all we have is a historical Jesus.

Is Satan A Christian?

Published: November 6, 2015 (Originally published: November 10, 2015)
Q

My 7 year old son asked my wife a question on the way to school this morning. He said that Satan was a Christian because he believed in God, that Jesus Christ was the son of God, that he died for our sins, and that God rose him from the dead. All of those qualify us as believers to gain eternal life in Heaven with the Lord. What can I say to my son to disqualify Satan from being a Christian when the scripture implies that Satan knows scripture? One cannot be a Christian and be against God. It seems to be an interesting paradox.
