Old Covenant Or New?

Published: October 27, 2015 (Originally published: November 2, 2015)
Q

Thanks for your excellent information, perspective and attitude. You have answered questions I have had for years. I am still unclear though about the Tribulation saints’ need to maintain their faith, and about which covenant they are saved through, the Old or the New. Are you saying they are saved during that time by their faith in God through the Old Covenant system and that is why they must maintain it? If so then aren’t you saying there are two ways to be saved since the time of Christ? (The Old Covenant and the New Covenant?)

How Can The Rapture Be A Secret?

Published: October 27, 2015 (Originally published: November 2, 2015)
Q

At the Rapture, Jesus will descend from Heaven with a shout (calling for the saints at the resurrection). (1 Thess 4:16) with the voice of the Archangel and the trump of God. I assume the trump of God is the voice of God. It seems to me that if we are changed into our new, glorified bodies at that time, how can all this happen in a twinkling of an eye? I’ve also been taught that all this will be a secret event, the Rapture, but at the Second Coming, every eye shall see him. If the Rapture is secret, won’t the Archangel’s voice and trump of God be loud enough to wake the dead, since at that time the dead will rise first?

The Simple Gospel

Published: October 27, 2015 (Originally published: November 1, 2015)
Q

I was wondering if you could answer my question about religion. I am aware of a Higher Figure that laid out an archaic book that has been translated from several different languages and has been thoroughly disorganized to a point where people can no longer agree on what it says. I know some people say there’s a message called the gospel, or good news, contained in this book . Can you explain in simple terms what the gospel message is?

True Christianity And The Rapture

If someone believes in the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, yet doesn’t believe in the Rapture event, will they still go? I have many friends who say that they don’t “necessarily” believe in the Rapture, but are true Christians who have taken Christ as their Savior.

Why Did This Have To Happen?

Published: October 25, 2015 (Originally published: October 30, 2015)
Q

Thank you so much for your web site. You answer many difficult questions, always with the grace of God in focus. May He continue to bless you.

I fear I’m sinning to question Gods plan for His creation, yet these 2 questions regarding Hell linger.

The Bible tells us Hell was created for Satan and his angels. God foreknew the fall of Satan, the temptation and fall of man and all the future suffering of creation to come as a result of our fall.

My 1st question is, knowing all of this why did He create Satan?

And after the time of judgment is over, and all of our tears are washed away, I assume our all knowing Lord will be conscious of the lost souls in the lake of fire, suffering for all eternity.

My 2nd question is. How can God be conscious of this and it not haunt him with sadness? I’ve tried to push these thoughts away and say “trust our fair and loving Lord. He has a different perspective, our salvation was thru suffering, proving His great love for us and I can’t fully comprehend it all now.” Yet these questions arise within myself and similar ones are asked by my young children.

The Church Is The People, Follow Up

Published: October 25, 2015 (Originally published: October 30, 2015)
Q

Re: The Church Is The People. I am of the view that the people are the church but it is argued that God is giving us these mammoth constructions. People point to the temple that Solomon built as credence for the church to have these mega structures. I am not saying we shouldn’t have a place where we meet but the idea that God is blessing a people to have a 50 year mortgage where the people are already oppressed by debt to meet one person’s personal ambition doesn’t sound like God’s design for me.

The Church Is The People Not The Building

Published: October 25, 2015 (Originally published: October 29, 2015)
Q

I have a question about the word church. In Matthew 16:18 Jesus said “I will build my church”. I know the Greek word is ekklesia and it basically means an assembly or congregation. I have seen the definition of the word church in a dictionary as meaning “The Lord’s House”, or a place of worship. Can you help with why they would translate ekklesia as a building or place (church) and not an assembly of people?

Where Do Evil Thoughts Come From?

Published: October 25, 2015 (Originally published: October 28, 2015)
Q

I have a very intimate relationship with the Lord. I frequently ask the Lord to search my heart and see if there is any wicked way in me. Desiring for him to reveal attitudes or behaviors that need to be changed.

Lately it seems like thoughts pop into my head of an evil nature, like making a childish excuse or telling a lie over some small matter such as why I am late. I immediately recognize this as an evil thought and renounce it. It has been years since I felt I needed to make excuses when I am at fault. Dealing with such a situation honestly and asking for forgiveness has proved to be a blessing. I am disturbed and wondering why this is suddenly an issue with me.

Taking Away Their Choice?

Published: October 25, 2015 (Originally published: October 27, 2015)
Q

A Christian friend and I study the Bible together and she is confused why God seems to take away a person’s free will by hardening their hearts, such as He did with Pharaoh, and in Psalm 105:25, “Whose hearts He turned to hate His people.” These are just a few examples in the Bible. She feels that these people didn’t have a chance to make their own decision. I am concerned that this can cause a “seed” of unbelief or doubt in her heart, since she is a fairly new Christian. Could you please address this?

I too have mixed feelings but for a different reason. I want be taken up in the rapture as soon as possible, but I have a calling to lead more to Christ before it comes. Come Lord, But Not Yet?

Q

In my heart I know I should be excited about the Lord’s return, longing for Him to return to this place and restore it every moment. Unfortunately, I can’t pray “thy Kingdom come” (swiftly, anyhow), because underneath this prayer is a feeling that I want to do more for His Kingdom to accrue reward on the day of judgement. I feel like “If given just one more year of hard work I can give away X amount of money or try and bring this person or that person to the Lord… etc.” How do I get around this wrong thinking?

Flesh, Bone, And Blood

In your article “Believe in Your Heart”, you mention that Jesus walked with His disciples, talked with them, ate with them and permitted them to touch Him to assure themselves He was not just a spirit, but a man with flesh and bone. Paul writes that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 15:50). So after the Rapture, will our glorified bodies no longer have flowing blood and a pumping heart?

Signs That God Is Calling Us. Follow Up

Q

In answering a question about signs that indicate we’re being called you said, “One of the most comforting facts about Romans 8:29-30 is that no one falls through the cracks. Everyone He foreknew is predestined. Everyone He predestines is called. Everyone He calls is justified and everyone He justifies will be glorified.

Your answer reminded me that Jesus said, “Many are called but few are chosen” which seems to contradict your answer. How do you explain that?
