Union Or Fellowship?
Published: September 29, 2016 (Originally published: October 23, 2006)I just finished reading your teaching on OSAS and had SO many questions answered. Thank you!
Toward the end of your message you wrote: “Those that stress belief, explain the permanent nature of our bond with God, and are directed toward eternity are Union verses. Those that involve grace and faith are Gift verses. Those that require work and are directed at the quality of our lives on Earth are Fellowship verses, and those that require work and involve eternal rewards are Prize verses.
I was thinking. It has bothered me that the need for repentance is not mentioned in verses like John 3:16, 1 John 5:12-13, Romans 10:9-10. Would all the verses in Scripture telling us to repent and be saved be verses dealing with Fellowship rather than Union since repentance involves a work? This is something I just can’t seem to get clear in my mind.
I’ve understood that repentance is a natural consequence of asking the Holy Spirit into our hearts. But wouldn’t it still be considered a work because we CAN choose to ignore the promptings of the Holy Spirit. If we DO ignore them and make no changes in our lives but yet still believe in Jesus Christ and in the work He did for us on the cross, that he IS God, that He WAS resurrected, if we really believe these things which are necessary for salvation but still refuse to give up our worldly lives, are we still saved? WOULD repentance be along the lines of Fellowship and not Union?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for your continued service to our Lord Jesus Christ. I look forward to your response.
Another Hebrews 6 Question
Published: May 3, 2016 (Originally published: May 4, 2016)I have received so much instruction, encouragement and wisdom from your writings. Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you. My question comes from Hebrews 6:4-6 which states: “It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.”
I have mulled this verse over and over and cannot seem to grasp it. This isn’t a cloaked stab at the OSAS argument. I am convinced, as you are, that we are saved by what we believe not by how we behave. I simply can’t make these verses align with anything else so that means I’m missing something. Can you help?

“Can you explain what pre-tribulation, pre-millennial, OSAS, and literal reading is and why I should care? I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God – He is my Lord and Savior – the only way to salvation (John 14:6).”

Published: August 25, 2008 (Originally published: August 25, 2008)I love your website, I have learned so much. I appreciate the way you are able to make sense out of the whole word of God, as some of us less qualified are often left with the feeling that Gods’ word is contradicting itself.
I have been saved since I was a small child. My mother helped me know the love of Jesus at 3 years of age. I have been studying OSAS and it gives me the freedom that I’ve never experienced since I was raised in the Church Of Christ.( Works)
Though I don’t go there anymore I still have a question that I need help on. I have read all you have on divorce, and remarriage, and I would appreciate your comments on 1 Cor. 7:10,11 where if a woman does leave her husband she is to remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. Does this apply to men as well? My Christian wife divorced me 7 years ago, and I remarried an unsaved woman who is new to the faith but loves it. I would not want to miss the rapture for anything.
