More on Trusting God

Published: August 23, 2016
Q

Jesus said that we should not worry about what we will eat, drink or wear, but seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to us. (Matt 6:31-33) But when we repeatedly must use credit cards to pay for groceries because the entire paycheck goes towards monthly bills, and the credit cards are hitting the maximum limit, how can we not worry about what we will eat, drink or wear once the card limits are hit?

The Woman Caught In Adultery

Published: August 23, 2016
Q

According to the Gospel of John, the Pharisees, in an attempt to discredit Jesus, brought a woman charged with adultery before him. Then they reminded Jesus that adultery was punishable by stoning under Mosaic law and challenged him to judge the woman. They were hoping to accuse him of disobeying the law by showing her mercy. Jesus thought for a moment and then replied, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.”

The people around him were so convicted by their own consciences that they quickly departed. When Jesus found himself alone with the woman, he asked her who were her accusers. She replied, “No man, lord.” Jesus then said, “Neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more.”

Did Jesus uphold the Mosaic law or not?

Will The Angels Leave Too?

Published: August 23, 2016
Q

You have mentioned that after the rapture, the Holy Spirit will be taken out of the way (2 Thes. 2:7). Does that mean all of heaven’s good angels will be taken away as well? Planet earth will be a horrific place if the spiritual realm is 100% evil.

Should There Be An Israel?

Q

A friend and I were discussing the increasing anti-Israel sentiment in the world and he said, “Personally I agree. I don’t even think there should BE an Israel!” How do I calmly respond to that?

How Many Babylons Are There?

Q

Our pastor says that there are 3 Babylons and one of them is the U.S. I do not believe him. If I am wrong tell me. We would be happy to know the truth.

Repentance And Salvation

Published: August 23, 2016
Q

I am currently reading through the book of Acts, and something struck me as I read the first 10 chapters. In the early church, when the Holy Spirit came upon the new converts, there is nothing mentioned about brokenness or repentance for sin. Can you explain this as these feelings were a significant component of my experience and I’ve come to understand repentance to be a precondition for being born-again.

Paint Over It Or Not?

Published: August 23, 2016
Q

A former attendee of our church painted a nice mural on the wall. Later it was known that she is involved in the occult and during the time of the painting was in an adulterous relationship. There is a faction in our church that has asked the elders to have the mural painted over and have offered to do it but the elders have refused. They say it is just a picture and that when we demonstrate forgiveness Satan never wins. Can there be any satanic power attached to it and is there any biblical teaching to support its removal?

Selecting Elders And Overseers

Published: August 17, 2016
Q

The Church I attend is small but well established. There are 60 -70 members with about 40 who regularly attend. We are currently trying to establish a group of elders or overseers but most have been married and divorced in the past including the Pastor. We recognize this as wrong and have asked for forgiveness and have moved on. Some have remarried some have not. The members in our church who have the ability to help make strong spiritual decisions or give advice is limited. How do we set a standard for an elder or overseer?

Knowing What We Believe And Why

Published: August 16, 2016
Q

I heard a lesson recently from a Bible teacher whose topic was “Are you saved?” He said belief doesn’t equal automatic salvation. It’s the quality of the belief that determines salvation. He said not everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved, but only those who “do the will of my father.” He said whoever just talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk is not saved no matter how many sinner’s prayers they pray. It’s the doing that’s the proving. He said even demons believe in Jesus and tremble. This has created quite a conflict for me. Can you help?

Salvation And Surrender

Published: August 16, 2016
Q

I have a question regarding salvation and belief vs surrendering your life to God. Isn’t surrendering something you do out of gratitude? Why do some churches say you must surrender your life when you are saved? I believe choosing to surrender your life is an on going process because people will have a hard time surrendering everything all at once. Ive been a Christian awhile and still hold onto things because its hard to give them up.
