Old Testament Heroes?
Published: November 6, 2024Reading the Old Testament, I wonder how God could call these men good. There isn’t one of them that doesn’t break His law and usually in a profound way. Take David (A man after God’s own heart) for instance; He not only broke the commandments about covetousness and adultery, but murder as well. Yet God honored Him highly. Oh yes I know David’s heart was for God, yet I read of no sacrifices from David for atonement. Am I missing something about the Law and the great men of the Bible? What is a person to think?
More On The Meaning Of Repentance
Published: November 6, 2024Recently I heard a sermon on YouTube in which the speaker pointed out that Christian behavior must change in the course of a Christian life, because the Bible states that unless we pursue holiness we won’t see Jesus Christ. The Bible reference he gave was Heb.12:14. To me this seems to contradict the position that repentance is only a change of mind and not behavior. I am aware of the fact that if you are sincere about changing your mind, it will not be long until also your behavior will change. Some things however, like deeply engraved habitual sin or even addictions, are very resilient and don’t change easily. So what do I need to tell myself and others who ask me?
Lamb Of God, Lion Of Judah
Published: November 6, 2024Why is Jesus called the Lamb of God? John 1:29 “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” Rev 5:6 ” Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne.”
And why is He called the Lion of Judah? Revelation 5: 5 Then one of the elders said to me “Do not weep! See, the LION of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals”.
Do We Have To Read To Be Saved?
Published: November 5, 2024One of my sons almost died when he was 5 due to extremely high fever which lasted 3 days. It affected his learning ability. He can learn but at an extremely slow pace. He says that what he has learned of the bible is from the preachers and me. He loves the Lord and is extremely faithful to Him. Recently someone he met told him that he had to read the bible himself or the word wasn’t his nor his salvation. Also that he should speak Hebrew. What kind of church has those beliefs and do you believe that is so? He is in his 50s and has led a Christian life for many years.
Help. I’m In a Financial Crisis
Published: November 5, 2024I’m writing to you because you are the only person that can give me advice. I’m out of work, and I haven’t been able to get a job because, at my age, nobody wants to hire me. I’m waiting for my retirement funds, which are supposed to be due after my birthday, in six months. But, in the meantime, we have to live and, right now, my wife and I are going through a terrible economic crisis. So, out of desperation, I’m using all my prayers to ask the Lord for lottery money. As a born-again believer, sometimes I have the feeling I shouldn’t ask the Lord for money I didn’t work hard to get, but other times I think He is testing my faith. What should I do?
Still Saved After All These Years?
Published: November 5, 2024I have always thought of myself as a Christian but finally gave my life to Jesus in July this year. I lost my Dad in June and what hurt me most was not the fact that he died suddenly, but not being sure if his soul is in a comfortable place waiting for resurrection. It then occured to me that He attended a revival years ago and got saved. He later walked away from this path, got into deep depression, drank a lot and even considered suicide. 3 weeks before his death, he told my sister that if God does not take him away from this world soon, he would throw himself in a river. He died suddenly of a blood clot in the heart. To cut a long story short, I would like to know if by being saved years ago, he was still saved when he died. He believed and loved God.
Reconnecting With God’s Spirit
Published: November 4, 2024When we become believers and are sealed with God’s Spirit …is our conscience used by His Spirit to lead us and correct us?
Why Did Jesus Have To Die?
Published: November 4, 2024A friend of mine has never been very open to me talking to her about Christ and tonight that changed. She poured her heart out to me and began asking questions. She wants to know why Christ had to die and shed His blood. She said if God knows our heart and we ask His forgiveness, why would that have not been enough for Him? She seems to be really hung up on the blood. Can you help me answer her?
How Are We To Believe?
Published: November 4, 2024I remember a missionary from another religion saying that 10 million people can’t be wrong in their belief in (his religion), to which I responded, “Well going with that logic, I could say 1 billion people cant be wrong about Islam.” In the case of his religion he said the members “feel” their religion is correct. But don’t most people who follow other religions feel that they are correct? They might even get dreams and visions telling them their religion is right.
The only conclusion one can draw from this is that you cannot base your belief on feelings. So how are we to believe then. Logic? Knowledge? Just because? With something as important as our salvation, are we supposed to believe not using our feelings? I hope you are able to provide some insight on this.
Has God Stopped Healing People?
Published: November 1, 2024I used to believe that healing was possible, but I just don’t know anymore. I use mark 16:17-20 as my proof, as well as the verses where it says that if we have faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed, we can say to this mountain, move and it shall be cast into the sea, and the works that Jesus did, we can also do! My problem is a website I read that seems to explain how healing is not for today, and we simply don’t have the authority to command sickness to leave. I’m really confused, please help me.
