More On The Elect

Published: April 27, 2023 (Originally published: April 5, 2013)
Q

In Matt. 24:22 Jesus said He would bring the Great Tribulation to a close for the sake of the elect. Then in Matt. 24:31 He spoke of gathering His elect from Heaven at the time of the 2nd Coming. And in Mark 13:27 He said his elect would be both in Heaven and on Earth. I am so confused! How can the Elect be in Heaven and on Earth at the same time?

I have a question related to the Transfiguration of Jesus. Why did He only take three apostles to witness it instead of taking all twelve?

Pregnant Women And Nursing Mothers

Q

Thanks for taking the time to read my question. I think I read somewhere on your website that babies unborn and children under the age of accountability would be raptured. But Luke 21:23 says: How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. What is your take on this verse?

Favorite Bible Version

Q

Thank you for all the work you do. I started listening to your Olivet Discourse today, taking notes and hoping to teach it to a small group in my home.

I was wondering if you have a favorite version of the Bible, and if so, could you let me know what that is. There are a lot of Bibles out there with Scriptures left out, and gender bias and all that new-fangled stuff. So if you have a favorite please let me know, I respect your advice. Do you know anything about the Holman Bible?

Why Do People Fear Prophecy?

Published: November 17, 2022 (Originally published: September 5, 2007)
Q

Thank you so much for opening Bible prophecy to those who earnestly seek understanding. Why do so many Christians avoid the Bible’s end time prophecies? From reading the Olivet Discourse, I understand that the Lord WANTS us to know the signs of the times…to be watchful. Is it fear? Or don’t they want it to come true? I get excited when I see prophecy coming true! We who study prophecy realize our redemption draweth nigh. Your thoughts?

The End Times According To Paul Part 1, 1 Thessalonians 1-3

Published: March 22, 2014 (Originally published: June 20, 2004)

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

It’s important to understand the differences between Jewish and Christian Eschatology. Israel was promised that one day God would return to dwell with them forever in the land He had given them (Ezekiel 43:7). The Church was promised that we would go to heaven to dwell with our Lord Jesus forever.

Why Will They Have To Watch?

Published: June 12, 2013 (Originally published: June 11, 2013)
Q

In His Olivet Discourse, Jesus mentioned the need to watch for His 2nd coming (Matthew 24:42). I understand that we must keep watch for the Rapture since it will take place in “a twinkling of the eye” on an unknown date and time. However, the Second coming of Jesus is certain to happen after the 7-year Tribulation which will be known to the entire world including believers who survive the Tribulation (because everyone can see Him coming in the clouds!). So why watch for the Second Coming? What will be the consequences if one fails to watch for Jesus’ second coming?

A Question on Matt. 24:34

Published: September 5, 2009 (Originally published: September 4, 2009)
Q

My question is about Matt 24:34, many people use the term generation to mean seventy years from the formation of the country of Israel in 1948 to the second coming. When Jesus spoke to the disciples wasn’t he using the Jewish year of 360 days? If you use the 360 day format then 70 years is 25,200 days for a 70 year period. Seventy years using our 365 1/4 day year would be 25,567.5 days or 367.5 more days for the same 70 year period or 2018. Using our calendar that would would work out to be 69 years or about one year less and make His second coming in 2017. Seven years earlier for the rapture would be 2010. How do you see it?
