A Confusing Passage?

Published: March 10, 2015 (Originally published: March 10, 2015)
Q

A lady friend tells me she couldn’t marry me unless her current husband becomes unfaithful leading to a divorce. She quotes 1 Cor. 7 and says she would have to remain single if she divorces because of extreme unhappiness. I’ve read the passage several times and, like most of the Bible’s verses, I am confused. What is the best way for me to gain understanding of 1 Cor. 7? By the way, this is hypothetical, part of a Bible study. I’m not romantically involved with her.

Praying for Our Enemies. Follow up

Published: March 10, 2015 (Originally published: March 11, 2015)
Q

Thank you for the lesson on “Praying for our enemies“, but I have a question: How do you pray for your enemies when you are at war with them? I am speaking specifically of Islamists. I know we should pray that they see the peace of God and come to His grace, but I fear that we will be at war, literally, with them, especially here in the U.S., in the foreseeable future.

Why Don’t You Name Them?

Published: March 10, 2015 (Originally published: March 11, 2015)
Q

I read your recent article entitled, “What Does the Bible Say? Tribulation and Wrath“. In your article, and many others I have read, you mention an author, a book, or a quote that is questionable or in complete scriptural error. The name of the author or the book is always anonymous. After reading your work for an extended period of time, I have little or no doubt that you and I are on the same page in regard to what the scripture says and means. How the very word of God is handled is certainly of infinite value to us all. It would be wonderful to know who these other authors are so one can be diligent and discerning. Why don’t you name them?

More On Free Will And Salvation

Published: March 4, 2015 (Originally published: March 4, 2015)
Q

How can we act on the free will God gave us to be born again if someone uses their free will to murder us? What is to say that the person that was murdered after the accountability age would or would not of chosen a life with Christ had they not been murdered or that a person for some reason would reject Christ later on in life? God’s will is we all come to the saving grace of His Son Jesus but He knew before He made us what our choice would be. Was our destiny set before we were born or will people who met an untimely death have an argument at the judgement or why even have a judgement if our life was predestined? What about the fact that God calls us to salvation, not that we were first to choose?

Current Events And Prophecy

Published: March 4, 2015 (Originally published: March 4, 2015)
Q

In light of the administration’s reaction to Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Congress, it seems as if the U.S. Government is beginning to turn its back on Israel. How can Jerusalem become a “city without walls” if its allies begin fading away? Will the current battle against ISIS/ISIL cause the Arab countries to form a strong coalition to defeat these terrorists, enfolding Israel into its protection in the process, thus leading to a fulfillment of prophecy?

Mary, Jesus, And The Babylonian Religion

Published: March 4, 2015 (Originally published: March 4, 2015)
Q

Is it true that Orthodox Jews believe that Christians are an offshoot of the Babylonian religious system? What is your argument against this? On the issue of Jesus and Mary vs. Semiramis and Tammuz, how could the counterfeit come first even before the prophets had written what was prophesied?

Asking For Wisdom

Q

I have been studying James 1:5-8. It sounds like if I believe without wavering that God will give me the wisdom I seek that he will give it liberally. Is there something wrong with my faith if the wisdom I ask for isn’t received? Am I being impatient?

Why Does God Intervene Sometimes And Not Others?

Published: March 5, 2015 (Originally published: March 5, 2015)
Q

I have been a believer for 27 years. Something has been on my mind for a long time and have never had the guts to ask. But here goes. In the case of rape, murder, abuse, etc. it seems God sometimes intervenes and sometimes He doesn’t. I know God loves both the victim and the criminal with a love we can never understand this side of eternity. Can you please help me understand why it’s OK for Him to stop attacks like this sometimes and not others?
